They saw what Russia did to their country and are trying to do again.
Being an EU member is undoubtedly better as it gives them more protection against a neighboring aggressive State but that does not mean they think everything the EU is doing is great and the UK can leave and be independent if they so wish.
If they could have that for Lithuania they would move back but every time they visit they see things getting worse, Towns filled with Russians, Russians standing for elections intimidation of all kinds.
Being a member is more of a necessity than a wish.

2007 - Voted for EU Communites (Finance) Bill
2009 - Voted for EU Energy Bill
2016 - Voted for EU Membership (Parliamentary Motion)
EU votes are incredibly complex, unlike voting for say ‘free school meals’. It’s not a simple ‘you are either for or against’ binary votes. Voting against the Lisbon treaty which is a MASSIVE constitutional document does not make you anti EU, it makes you a responsible MP.
Like I mentioned before (you called it whataboutery) Corbyn voted on the same lines as the entire nation of Ireland in regards to the Lisbon treaty. The Lisbon treaty is a fcking disgrace by the way and was (and is) universally unpopular amongst nearly all EU electorate of which only Ireland had the opportunity of a referendum.
