Contracts Extended on 12:59 - Feb 20 by Northernr

On 1 - in addition to the bigger, better stadium which they share and use during the week, and the bigger gates, Bristol City sold two defenders for north of £30m in the summer. Same reason Brentford spent in the summer, sold loads of players for big money. The only way we compete at the top end under our current circumstances and the rules as they stand is regularly selling players for big money. It’s why the idea we should let BOS and Manning walk away for free next summer is so daft.

Clive, id argue that stadium size is overrated from a revenue perspective.

Take a look at qprs accounts from the last two years: gate receipts were £4.9m last year and £5.2m the year before.

Even if we doubled our attendances (let’s assume capacity permitted at loftus road), it would barely move the needle for us

The only way to make money in this division is through player trading

This is a bit oversimplified, but Our Luke freeman sale will provide comparable revenues to ticket sales for 23 home matches! Selling Eze for 20m would be the equivalent of selling 48k tickets to every home match.

Well it all goes in the pot, being the fifth lowest attendance in the Championship isn't doing wonders for us is it? But agree, as I say, the way you get out of this is regular big money sales.

Agreed, although for so long as were in the championship, our issue isnt a capacity issue as much as it is a utilization issue. we're currently only filling up ~70% of the stadium on average.

if we ever do get back to the prem, i suspect we'll have a capacity issue rather than a utilization issue. but then by that point, we'd be so awash with broadcasting money that it wouldnt matter much

i'm leaving aside the issue of other events (like how spurs uses their stadium for nfl, concerts, etc). i dont know much about this or how it affects the bottom line/ffp, so i cant really speak to it. but logically, it seems that this doesnt help us.

Calling someone a patronising pillock is voicing your concerns?

Yeah right

Your post was ridiculously patronising pinner. I'll take back the pillock bit though. Apologies. Meant it in jest.
Its a bug bare of mine when other posters moan about other posters who are just talking about their football club. Negatively or positively. Take this thread for example. Its up for debate whether this a positive step for the club. Can you honestly say the club never get things wrong? I dont blame fans for being slightly cynical about how the club conducts its business.

What upsets me, Bright has been arguably our most dangerous player for a long time, he should have started another 50 games for us.

They should try putting him up front.

Or to help a bit, maybe try and win the occasional cup game.

Only in the last four months or so has he shown enough confidence, consistency and finishing ability.

I don't think it is the right time to be risking that by trying him in a new position.

Maybe, if he signs a new contract, we could experiment a bit in the last few games.

I would assume they made it public to ward off interest from other clubs who could have possibly started talking to them and even turning their heads with fiction. And to make it clear they won't be sold easy.

In addition, if they want replacements, it shows the selling clubs we are not immediately desperate. It also gets players like Grant Hall to keep playing, despite the fact I think he has no chance of being renewed and will end up like the Winter Leech who now plays in League One and is not regular of course.

It shows intent and wards off mischievous head turnings and chancer clubs. Gives us some time, but we still have to use it well.

At this stage, it is all the club can do. We shall see what happens.

Apology accepted - thanks.

Saw your post because I often look on board without logging on.

Never said club hasn't ever got anything wrong - that would be silly -don't think they have done anything wrong here though and presuming this means both are off is just ott IMHO.

I agree in respect of our current stadium as it only generates matchday revenue. If QPR ever move, it's important that the new stadium be capable of generating other revenue streams. That being said, for me the training ground is higher priority to both support the first team and generate more income through player development.
