I know £2m is £2m but it’s desperately sad to me that supporters would voluntarily throw their power and ownership of a financially stable club away at drop of a hat like that.

Good luck to all involved.

Good luck to all but....

"Reynolds and fellow actor McElhenney had told trust members they want to turn Wrexham into a "global force"".

Oh come on.

£2 million being invested is all well and good and provided they do due deference to the football knowledge within the club to run the best way a lower league club with new cash injection should be run then fine.

If they go into it, like Fernandes did, ie the new owner of the toy shop, then they liable to not work but no real issues with it.

But their plan to turn Wrexham into global force - well a statement like that means an AC Milan , a Barcelona, a Bayern Munich - ummm thats not going to happen . Lmao !!!!!

We had a four year plan to get into champions league !!!

How many years plan to turn into a global force but yes sounds very stable, well thought out and easily attainable IMHO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Gang Buy a Football Club!

For what was once a competitive football team, they’ve floundered around lower then non league for a long time.

Found it quite sad to see that ground practically empty as things went from bad to worse. If this gives them a dream to cling to, then what’s the problem?

As an American I’m always fascinated when fellow Patriots decide to buy football clubs. If you’re outside the top .1% of earners in the U.S. there’s no chance you’re buying a team in the NFL, NBA etc., so the rich look toward England, Italy and elsewhere for their own little playthings without knowing that things are verrrrrry different.

The Mike Piazza story comes to mind: https://theathletic.com/721275/2018/12/18/the-passion-of-mike-piazza-how-the-mid

I hope Reynolds et al do what’s best for the club and its fans.

Just not true Steve.

They averaged 4,000 out of 10,000 prior to CV19. In 2005 when they were at their height (League One) they were averaging 4,700.

Just not true either. The Racecourse ground holds 15,500 and the last recorded average attendance was 4057. Therefore it was 74% empty.

I think any fan in this situation is just fervently praying that the people coming in have some integrity and aren't just leeches. If they are there to try and genuinely help, great adventure i reckon. After all, they're fcuked without it.

The whole system needs looking at though, what a farce it all is now. Hard not to hate modern football. It wants shooting.

Won't even dignify the global force statement with a comment.

I think Baz was playing his Dulwich Hamlet joker card, he thrives on the spores of adversity.

Incidentally, life did exist before the 21st Century, seen them play in the Championship in the 70’s, packed stadium, sort of away fixture you didn’t want. Would their fans like to see that again over the never ending grind of the National League? Probably.

Check again they limit football to 10,000 and have done for a long long time and long before fan ownership. My point was about attendance though not capacity.

So are fan owned Wrexham a tragic case or not?

Bear in mind Wrexham became fan owned BECAUSE they were failing not because of it. QPR used to get 35,000 in the 70s and have never been fan owned. I just don’t think you are commenting in good faith. 1970 was 50 years ago.

Wow - this is a bit of left field one. Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenny and football? Must admit, I didn't recognise Reynolds at all!

Wish them all the best, suffice to say 2 million is a decent wedge although of course pales into insignificance compared with the ridiculous sums we see in the Prem...

On a side note, I didn't realise Wrexham were founded in 1864. Makes them one of the oldest clubs in the UK.

Good luck to Wrexham, I'm actually interested in seeing how they move forward from here. I like McElhinney and Reynolds and believe them to be sincere.
Imagine Wrexham players on FightMilk. Genius

I’m always perplexed by this.

Sheffield FC considered the oldest team in the world right?

Who the fck did they play then?
