Soccer Aid 21:04 - Jun 12 with 1625 viewsdavman

I always find it enjoyable and there have been some funny moments over the years with Boris' rugby tackle and Mourinho's tackle on Olly Murs. But recently, the sides have been ridiculously unbalanced. The foreign stars look in better shape than ours (check the state of Teddy Sheringham tonight) and will win by a few.

But what I am surprised about is that they can't find better football players in the world of celebrity. Tom Brennan and Mark Wright look tidy, but there are some shockers out there - Mo Farah, Chunks, Lee Mack, Liam Payne - all particularly crap. Surely there are better players in celeb world?

Can we go out yet?

Having had the misfortune to witness Frank Bruno in panto at Woking many years ago I avoid these cross over events like the plague.

was Ralph Little playing?... I think he tried to become a pro with a lower league club (Port Vale I think?) a few years ago.

He trialled with us once.

No not yesterday.

Noah Beck, the YouTube bloke was a very decent player. Played at youth level in the US and would fit quite well into most lower league teams. Knows how to take a good penalty.

Never knowingly right.

I once watched Malden Vale v Walford (cast and production team of Eastenders) back in the late 80s.

Can't remember who exactly played now as I was just a kid but I do remember Lofty was definitely there and Barry who was the Boyfriend of Colin and possibly Nick Berry. There was also a young woman on the sidelines who was impersonating Sharon Watts. All very bizarre thinking back.

Here's a snippet from another one they did in Basingstoke.

My old post office team used to play against Rod Stewart’s celebrity team at his house in Essex. There used to be a scattering of ex players like Terry Gibson and Peter Kitchen. And Bradley Walsh played a few times too. They used to beat us quite easily at first, but then we decided to put a few more decent players in our team for the next game, and we won 5-3.
We never got invited back again.
