wba a .......0 points
burnley a....0 points
stoke a ......0 points

pne h ......1 point
coventry h..1 point

I honestly can't see where another point is coming from. Amazingly the bookies still have us at only 9/2 with Blackpool, Huddersfield and Wigan all odds on.

And still the bookies have the current bottom three as odds on and they've only cut ours after yesterday to 7/2. I'd say on current form that is optimistically generous.

F**k points. F**k safety.

We lose to teams above us, we lose to teams below us. I'd take relegation right now if it spares us from anymore of these shit performances.

do you think going down will make losing any better?

I don't understand any thoughts that relegation will be any good to us. Look at the clubs in that league, it may well be that the most likely route out of it will be towards League Two.

We need to do anything, literally anything, to stay in this league.

The last time we went down from this division was different. The big differences were a/ though the team was crap, they were trying, and b/ most fans seemed to adopt a Victor Meldrew type of camaraderie through the gloom.
I wasn't anywhere near as pissed off back then as I am now and that's with regular exercise and daily amlodipine.

Thing is most of those below's form is pretty bad and we do have the points on the board.

Bookies are never going to assume future results - hence the bottom 3 being odds on

In answer to op - 4 I think, but who knows?

At least 5 more points given our GD, I'd have thought. As I don't think we will, as they say, trouble the scorers again, it's pretty academic. If there'd been any sign of fight (as opposed to in-fighting), but there's been nothing; a weird zombie win against Watford, and other than that flat lining. No more points this season.

Currently you still can't get any odds for relegation from the Championship.

Or not on Paddy Power anyway.

Championship games are inherently unpredictable. In truth there's little real difference between the ability of teams in the playoffs and those in the bottom three. Many results are more or less random.
You often just need a lucky first goal to turn an unpromising prospect into a win.
No reason why that can't happen again.
With Willock and Chair back the chances of scoring will be improved.
No reason to panic yet but I am sure the usual Drama Queens will wish to wallow in the agony. In which case we are doomed. Great !!

Answer 3
In only 3 years of the last 12 did you need more than 45 points to stay up.

I got no idea how many points we will need, but guess it could easily be over 50 if Huddersfield, Cardiff and Rotherham get 3 or 4 more wins each. I take some hope from my recollection that we have a terrible record playing struggling Clubs in recent seasons, Wigan, Blackpool, Huddersfield and Rotherham just recentl examples, but have done better against Clubs who we weren't expected to. Our 2 wins in the last 20 something have come at Preston and home to Watford. One problem we have is that many of the teams we play are still in the play-off place hunt, but we can hope to do the double over Preston, beat Norwich when their play-off chances are about gone, likewise Stoke and Bristol with nothing much to play for.

This is what I’m banking on.

Watford for example. Who saw that coming.

We snookered - welcome to division one - chair, willock, dykes, dickie, Deng, field, paal and Johansson adiós it's been emotional but futile - and the loaners it looks like you wasted a year of your career but in truth it was only half as you really only played half a year.... So that's about at least 11 gone - our starting 11 next year in division one keeper - ? Kakay, drewe, dunne, Amos , dozzell, Armstrong second game in division one starting 11 kakay, drewe, dunne - the rest injured.

13 goals scored....if we double that pathetic tally, we'd still be in the bottom half of the goals scored table.

there lies the problem.

Dave, I dunno, man.

But prior to WBA, my feelings were probably that I'd rather be relegated now than have eight more Wigan type losses in a row.

I talk a lot of bollocks to be honest.

Yep, if this thing is still on (can't believe it is TBH) then, fairly obviously, we'll have to defeat at least one of Coventry or Norwich. Ince's unexpected departure worries me now - the fakes may well rally under Hunt.

Wigan and Blackpool are gone obviously, so I'm thinking 48pts to survive - though with our GD it means we'll probably need 49 now. So lots to do.

I was euphoric yesterday evening - in the cold light of day not so sure. I loved Ainsworth's passion in the interview
but will his exuberance come back to haunt us (a la post-Watford)? We've got to grind out 2 wins in 5 games, something we havent done inthe previos 20-odd.

I'd say the 'clever money' is still on us playing Wigan and Blackpool next season.

I tend to think that Stoke and Bristol are more likely three pointers than Cov next week. That would leave survival awfully late, and who knows what the mood of the team/fans would be at that point. One way or another I remain tentatively optimistic.
