CLINT HILL 09:10 - Feb 26 with 1844 viewsgazza1

Deserves a mention.......

May not be top Premiership quality(Hornet said so-must be right!!) but showed me again yesterday why he would be in my Team in the situation we find ourselves in - a good choice from MH yesterday.

Wins headers frequently, tackles very well on his backside which is very dangerous in these day, gives it 110% every game, never seen him get a roasting despite not being very good apparently......a good overall pro.

Well played yesterday, my MOM.

He was mentioned on here yesterday somewhere as MOTM, I think it came under the heading;

"Hey everybody, we're down to 10 fcking men and fighting an uphill battle at home again, clint Hill my MOTM though"

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Did not see it.......

Fail to see why some many want to do not appreciate a good pro like Hill and want to say negitive things but there you go I suppose.

If the players who are meant to have the talent put a shift in like Clint yesterday we would be in the top half.

As less and less of our starting 11 have the guts for the fight and the will to give it everything then Clint Hill's attitude stands out a mile.

That in itself is worrying!

Last season we only had 2 or 3 non-100%'ers starting games so his attitude wasn't that apparent.

For me, yesterday only Hill, Mackie and Barton gave it everything. (unfortunately Barton and Mackie had poor games)

Apart from his daft sending off against Bolton, he's not really put a foot wrong all season and can be pleased with the contribution he's made overall. It was another solid performance.

But his inclusion proves that Hughes is still trying to figure his team out, because this time we didn't even have Fitz Hall in the squad and Danny Gabbidon could only make the bench (and is a player Hughes does know having worked with him before).

The positive with Hill is that his experience is a positive for us in the situation we're in. He's a backs to the wall kind of player and not one who will wilt under the pressure of the situation.

Hill and Mackie always put a shift in. I think everyone, including NW got ahead of themselves in thinking we had to ditch so many players at the start of the season. Very few players even got a chance to prove themselves at this level. The one thing that team had done is bonded. This team are all over the place. After a week away they don't know each other. Everyone has piped up with Mackie, Hill, Derry, etc etc not good enough at this level but they all play 100% for each other - and for me that's the difference. To be fair to Adel, he got annoyed with himself yesterday but he kept going because fans knew he was trying. I just wrote on Tony F's Facebook thread that the team were losing spirit and spirit at these points is everything. I would add Smith to the list of players who rarely gets a chance in this team, again he plays his heart out. For me getting rid of Gorkss was a big blow, guy hardly put a foot wrong. Defence has been pretty poor since.

Never knowingly right.

id like to see hill still here next season if we go down we will need players like him to dig us back out

but my guess is that he kenny and maybe derry will be off to leeds

HILL was to only player yesterday that tried to calm diakite down just after he got his yellow card he made a point of going up to him talking to him and using his hands to say calm down and becareful but sadly to no avail

Listen to the band play!

My POTY last season.
Of course Taarabt was unbelievable, and in Ali Faurlin we had the best midfielder in the division, but do you remember how many defensive headers Hill won? How many wingers got kicked when it mattered? Even how obvious it was he loved being a part of a useful side? As was evident with Kenny, Derry, Orr, several others and I agree Gorkss.
Kaspars was genuinely upset to leave, as was Routledge not to join, and if you ever meet these people firmly shake their hands.
A few of them proved many of us wrong.
