Good inni! In what was a very dull typical dead rubber he was still a joy to watch. We are so much better when he is there to make the team link up. Had our forwards been a lot more ruthless rather than toothless today we would have won comfortably and Faurlin was behind just about everything we did well, which wasn't too much, but what we did do well invariably came through Ale.

I just wish JFH was a bit braver. We always feel a bit safe and reserved. The players have to be unleashed to attack a lot more.

Never knowingly right.

We should vote for Ale to win supporters player of the year - in the absence of a clear winner who deserves it.
Show Ale how well he's liked here.
Either him or Clint.

Even on his bad days we are a far better team with him playing than not.

Today wasn't the most competitive of matches, but was the first time I've thought that there was any future in Faurlin and Luongo playing together.

He's a wonderful footballer and we're privileged to have him.

He was so far the most gifted player on the pitch today it was almost embarrassing.

I said to young Aged, "look son, he always wants the ball, he's always available".

What a player he could have been if fate had treated him kinder. Good enough for any team in the world in my opinion.

IIRC we were told by Clive's mole at Burton that above all he hated to lose. On the whole, I think its important to build from the back, so I'm not too worried, especially in this long pre-season. I'm with you in the longer term, though.

Hi,
I notice that we got another goal today from one of his corners. Unlike "first-man Barton" he manages to give a us a few goals this route by sometimes getting it on one of our players heads. His corner today for the goal was excellent. Another reason why he adds value to the team.

Paradoxically I would not play him now in these last few games, just rest him and get him ready for next year on a new contract. Better than him getting injured in some useless game this season. Then we can also take a look at combinations of player formations without him. As we know we always need backup options in the Championship.

And there you have it, mate:

"look son, he always wants the ball, he's always available"

That's Ale Faurlin in a nutshell. Both always available to receive a pass and the best forward passer of the ball too. Even when he's bad he's better than the rest.

Today, MotM for me. Yes, he lost the ball....but EVERY incisive forward pass came from his boot. We ticked slowly but he was the one trying, in vain, to keep us ticking.

LONG LIVE FAURLIN!

Player of the season?

Probably not, but I would definitely vote for him!

The amazing thing is that he was signed by you know who (at least that was what Free Seat told us)! From his first game for us, he has been a joy to watch. His passing ability, his control, his heading & his workrate have been exceptional.

I missed yesterday through illness, so I am delighted to read this thread. Recently, for the first time, I have had some doubts as to whether we should extend Ale's contract.

Not that I wanted him to leave. He can stay here forever as far as I'm concerned. However, he loves playing & if that means he has to move elsewhere, so be it!

What I would like though, is that IF we are not going to renew his contract we are told before the Bristol game. We should then have him captain the team in his last match & receive the send off he would deserve.

I spent Friday watching (very sadly) the Warnock championship DVD's. Of course, Adel was breath taking, but Ale was also supreme. Bearing in mind what he was going through personally because of the investigation, how he held himself together & deliver over the last few months was incredible.

Player of the season? No.

Player of the 2000's? By a country mile!
