Madness of wanting your own team to lose 16:57 - Feb 6 with 2175 viewsrunningman75

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/06/everton-fans-in-the-confusing-p

I would never want the r's to lose. Even if they were playing Chelsea's rivals for the title in the last match I would rather the r's still tried to play their best rather then throwing a match. Listening to an Everton fan on talksport this morning stating he could not wait for Everton to lose to Man City as he could not stand Liverpool winning the title. What a mug.

It depends on whether your love for your club is stronger than your hate for your rival.Mine is normally around 75% to 25% love for qpr,but that can vary when those fecking ars wholes from eastern sw6 are playing or not.

Hmm. I was still pretty pissed off when we lost that game after leading. I would have taken a draw and had Utd win the league.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

If you're an Everton fan, it probably doesn't matter too much whether you finish 7th, 8th or 9th. I would be bored out of my head with their lot at the moment. It's a sad day when fans of a famous old club like Everton can derive more enjoyment from their team losing than winning a particular match, but I can sympathise. Most Everton games are essentially meaningless, so if they lose one and it goes some way to stopping Liverpool winning their first title in almost 30 years, then I reckon you have to take your satisfaction where you can. I would want Fulham to lose if the game meant nothing and it meant Chelsea not winning the title.

Would never want us to lose, but the look on fergies face at full time after the Man City game was partial payback for 96 and his stopwatch round the neck intimidating the official routine he used to do. Which certainly made the loss more palatable than most.

Never want us to lose, ever. I was going nuts when Augero scored 'that' goal. Partly because I wasn't sure if we were down or not but also pi$$ed off that we lost it in the last few minutes. Didn't give a fu(k that City won the title at our expense (though 'glad' they won it overall as opposed to Utd) yet QPR fans were cheering it. I wasn't.

Every QPR fan at that game wanted us to win or draw to stay up, only celebrated after it was clear we were safe and most of the celebrating was for us staying up rather than them winning the league

Extremely unfair comparison. We just found out we stayed up in our first season of course we would celebrate. Once that is confirmed it was almost like watching from a neutral. I'm gutted we didn't make history by winning/drawing that but at that moment in time I knew we stayed up and saw City fans also excited they won, thought it was quite nice celebrating with them.

Also I despise Man Utd

And arguably for having a more sedate exit from the stadium at the end of the game...

I get annoyed when our under 16s lose. I want us to win every tackle, every corner, every game even the toss of a coin. If we entered a tiddly winks competition I want to slaughter the opposition.

I celebrated when our bench went mad knowing we were safe YET some of our fans sang along with City fans at the end. There's a huge difference. We were winning with about 3 mins of time added on left. Had we won the game still would have been remembered like it is.

I'm still gutted we lost.

Wouldn't ever want us to lose a game, although i did come close under Paul Hart's short tenure.

It’s the last day of the season and Rangers have just secured safety with one game to go. Man Utd and Liverpool are already relegated and the last remaining relegation place is a straight shoot-out between Plymouth on 38pts and Chel*** on 37pts. 3 days earlier, Chels** have announced that relegation would cost them over £250m and drive them into immediate liquidation.

We are home to Plymouth and we lose 0-1 with a 97th minute Joel Lynch own-goal.

I’m gutted — right? Tricky one. Deep breath - I'd be gutted.

Singing along at the end when we were safe isn't the same as wanting them to win

Yes i was seething after man city game & also after we lost 2-1 at home to Leeds in tbe promotion season , mainly because the FA only told us / the players that no points would be deducted just before the game . That must have had the players minds churning & not on the game ahead .

You guys have to understand something. The Liverpool fans are the absolute worst winners in football.

When they won the Champions League for the fifth time a guy I worked with, a quiet bloke most of the time (but also a bit of a prick), printed out pictures of the trophy on A4 paper and posted them all over the office building. Even the floors we didn't rent. And of course he never actually went to the game.

They made a fking play about that night you know. An actual, in the theatre play. It was in a BIG theatre too.

Every bus/train journey you'll see someone with the five stars on their clothes or tattooed. Or graffiti'd. "We won it five times". Fk sake. Sorry make that "We won it five time. YNWA."

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. If they win the league they will never ever shut up about it.

So my mate in finance that I work with, he's Everton and he, quite rightly, was happy they lost.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH MARTI THE REDEEMER WHO STRENGTHENS ME.

Flip it round and imagine we got a point against, say, City on the last day of the season which allowed Chelsea to swoop in and nick the league.

Fk that.
