Kevin Pietersen (NON QPR) 10:21 - May 14 with 1530 viewsthame_hoops

What's the big deal with this whole saga, what did KP do that was so bad he won't be allowed to play again?

I heard about the text stuff to SA which he left the team for and then came back again but I've read and heard that he doesn't get on with Strauss and Strauss's book apparently he tells all?

Can anyone enlighten me as to why one of the best English players ever won't get the chance to play again? I've lost interest since his departure as he was such a great player to watch.

I understand some say he's awkward in the dressing room but they are there to do a job, I work with people I don't like, we all have too

No one really knows, I doubt the faceless people at the ECB really know. But what a shambles it is. Vaughan turned down the role as he knew he'd just be a puppet. Unfortunately Strauss jumped at it and now looks ridiculous.
When the Aussies turn up and spank us the call for his return will be deafening which will put Strauss in an untenable position in my view.

It's not as if we're blessed with world class batsmen that we can afford to leave out someone like Pietersen. He's an awkward character but to paraphrase Lyndon Johnson about J. Edgar Hoover it's better to have him inside the tent pissing out.

Strauss is going to be no different from Downton. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Jobs for the boys.

The big noise you can hear is the Aussies pissing themselves laughing. I fear another 5-0 walloping on the cards.

i dont really get all of it either tbh, if hes as divisive and disruptive then why did they approach to become involved in coaching the squad. it now looks and feels like strauss is putting his own agenda ahead of englands interests. love him or hate KP would atleast add a bit of personality to a very dull squad and the ability to change the outcome of a test match that more than likely isnt going to go your way. swann was once booted out the squad and brought back into the fold, flintoff gets half cut and boards a pedallo and remains in the squad. it all seems a little petty

I would assume that this will effect the new coach, I was quite glad to see langer and Gillespie linked to the job but will they want it if they aren't allowed to pick the best players?

Just hearing on the radio that Cook threatened to walk if KP was bought back, wtf?!

That wouldn't be the end of the world. Most negative and unaware captain we've ever had.

I think this whole situation is ridiculous. Pieterson is 34 not 24, his Test batting average was declining in the period before he was sacked.Nearly every dressing room he has gone into has been poisoned, he has an alarming history of injuries (he is injured again now). The Ashes will be lost this summer if he plays or not, England are short of openers and Test class bowlers- quicks and spinners, not middle-order batsman. He made a huge score, but it was against the worst team in England who managed to drop him 4 or 5 times on the way. Most importantly , his biggest supporter is uber-tw@t Piers Morgan, if he supports him, you know it's a bad idea !

You have basically said most of the issue:

1 - the texts he sent were not particularly nice about Strauss or other members of the team/coaching staff

2 -His autobiography went even further

3 - From what I've heard he is an arrogant S.O.B., and not easy to get on with

Don't get me wrong, I would much rather watch him than anyone else, but as a Surrey fan, Id be happy if he played for us instead!

BUT - the way the ECB has handled this has been pathetic... why was he "sacked" he could have been deselected instead.

One other thing - which one of Balance, Root or Bell would you drop for him? Its an opener we need, not another middle order batsman...

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

The John Terry of cricket and allegedly has a thing for other players wives. I can totally see why him and Piers get on so well and are such good mates. Both complete and utter *****.

One South African arguing over whether another South African should be in the England team.

Don't know how anyone can take International Cricket seriously. A joke sport.

It's difficult because he's clearly an amazing player but the issues seem to deep rooted.

It appears that pretty much everyone else in the team think he's a twa@ and don't want him around?

Do you make an exception for his talent or go with the team majorities view and create a team spirit.

I am not a cricket fan, but I am a Radio 5 listener, so I feel I am in a position to judge that even by cricket's high standard this KP stuff is BOR Ring.

I find this thread quite funny.

We had our own very talented player that was very disruptive in the dressing room always slagging off players and managers and prone to baby tiffs.

Most on here said Adel should never play for us again, yet KP does the same and most would still like to see him play.
