100% Ollies fault, complacent, set the tone and removed the energy from the side. 45mins of 5-4-1 against Burton at home. Awful display by both centre miss. Sylla totally isolated. Did not create a chance. Has dragged us back into it.

A real kick in the bollocks today. That was complacency at its worst. Everything about the mini revival striped away in a team selection. Get to 52 points before you start making unnecessary changes FFS.

Having said that, the players all over the park were way way below par. Luongo, everything's alright son? You look completely lost.

A bad result again to a team that are struggling. I wish Holloway had kept his mouth shut about his playing days here and losing to Swindon twice when they could have been challenging for the top (although he had the wrong season really) because he's been the biggest culprit of these types of results.

Momentum and confidence lost in a blink of a team sheet.

Ollie isn't blameless today but he was well within his rights to put his faith in two players he himself brought in this month in Doughty and LuaLua. Changing the team didn't mean we were always going to fail...

I tell you what today showed us, lacking.

If Mackie and Manning had knocks, they shouldn't be on the bench. If he was resting them for Wednesday, then it was stupid because 3 points against a team below us is worth more than increasing our chances up in Newcastle.

Very poor today. To think Manning was going to be let go a few weeks back! Just shows we've got a long way to go to eradicate stooopid from QPR.

It was the formation in the first half against a side who counter - we have been the counter attacking side recently so setting us up 5 4 1 was a real big mistake. Game was lost as soon as I saw the formation. I am all for not changing a system and not tinkering but we have to more adventurous at home.

Signing 2 strikers in the next 72 hours will define our season!

Not totally Holloways , he was entitled to expect effort and commitment from those he did select and got neither .
He ballsed up his part no question , but those he did pick let him down .

As soon as I saw the team selection I didn't fancy it and neither it seems did the players

had a real chance to kill off burton today instead breathed new life into them and dragged ourselves right back into it

without mackies energy and mannings drive we were lifeless for first half

fair play to Washington I felt he had his best half for us but Christ giving Mackie 5 minutes and injury time he touched the ball once

need a big striker and a playmaker either the new man utd kid or Morrison

I can understand the reasoning behind the changes, but unfortunately only one worked. Lua Lua was a definite positive - strong, tricky, pacy, the only source of creating chances, and certainly will be an asset. Very disappointed with Doughty though. Him and Luongo were both poor with their passing today, which I thought was the main reason we created so few good chances.

Disagree no lack of effort from doughty just not mobile enough for that formation at this level. Lua lua clearly short of confidence no surprise then that Bidwell behind lua lua had a really poor game and Luongo alongside Doughty had a really poor game. But seriously 5-4-1 with an isolated Sylla. We played 5-3-2 against Fulham

Well, if nothing else that proved how important Manning has become to the side in 4 starts and less than a month.

Also says a lot about Doughty that, at 4 years older and with knocking on for 100 games in the league, the midfield collapsed so badly with him in it.

Is the correct answer.

How poor are we when we cheer the introduction of a 20 year old who has made 4 starts? The rest of the team should hang their heads in shame. No disrespect to Manning , I think he should've started yet Sylla did start. I thought he was poor last week but today he was dreadful. As were most of the starting XI.

This was a throwback to games earlier in the season.

The whole match was flat from the start, with just a handful of away fans in the School End.

As others have said Mackie and Manning were a big miss.

Just as in games earlier in the season, for most of the match we didn't really look like scoring, despite getting into the opposition box.

Although Burton didn't look that great they did play well on the break, so deserved to win.

My lack of effort point arises from the fact that the whole game took on the guise of a training match or testimonial. The stoppage at the start set the tone,

All of our players showed no urgency , when we went a goal down Burton hardly celebrated and we just shrugged and kicked off.

You could have chucked a blanket over the amount of Burton fans and our fans made as much noise as if somebody had .

Doughty just did not get on the ball at all , not aided by Lynch and Co belting it over his head from the start.

That for me was worse than Newcastle , then we were beaten by an expensive bunch of players led by a top manager.

I love Ollie but this was pathetic both from him and his players ....

Yup, Ollie's fault today. Don't mess with a side on a run.

Very poor first half. Got in each other's way far too often.

Too many players off their game today. Bidwell, Sylla, Luongo particularly.

Why put Manning on the bench. Ran the game as soon as he came on. He's our Liam Brady.

Why not stick with him and Mackie to start with.

Not much they could do about the first goal. Good hit and took a deflection.

Burton defended fantastically.

We were horribly shot shy until it was too late.

Doughty dod okay, and thought he should play alongside Manning. At least he wins the ball and both he and Manning play the game going forward, not sideways or backwards.

Sylla is badly out of form, we need a blood and thunder forward and he has lost his confidence since the head injury.

Luongo was a bit better second half but honestly, he does so little that has any attacking threat and he can't bring himself to shoot. He took out their CB in the first three minutes, which was more difficult than actually getting a shot away.

Never knowingly right.

Holloway's Ramblings if anybody is interested.

"It's bitterly disappointing, because I thought we could play better than that and give a better show of ourselves.

"I'm sick and fed up of feeling like I do now. It's not how I want to feel. We have to assert ourselves on games and we didn't do it in the way I wanted us to.

"I need to bring the right sort of people in if I can. We've got lots of things spinning at the moment. Which way are they going to drop? We're not sure yet.

"But hopefully they'll give me the right sort of selection problems so I can build a team that can win different types of games."

So all of his previous spiel about everyone who is here now in the team really want to play for the club, united, etc. etc. is just clichéd hot air.
So I won't be surprised by another public naming and blaming of individual players again this week.

100% of people who drink water will die.

The thing we really needed was a bit of Mackie-style oomph because the atmosphere in the stadium was so bad.

Surely you play your best team against Burton to get 3 points hopefully. You then play your best team against Newcastle and if there's tiredness as the game progresses adjust from there. Football managers sometimes forget the whole point of football is to win matches.

Our central midfield has been very poor for some time. I don't recall seeing any side ever so poor at keeping simple possession apart from the England team.

I like our full backs, Pavel down the right, and obviously Alex Smithies. The rest of them are poor. Grant Hall should not be playing centre mid, he's not capable of it. He's a defender and looks like it. At least not in the limited time i've seen. Conor did ok.

And as a team, i'm not sure we have a single player who can shoot better than pub team standard. Or if they can, they won't. For a good player, Luongo is usually very poor when i watch. Always seems to be playing on his own. You'd never guess we have an extra man in midfield sometimes.

And we're desperately missing our hooligans from Q block.

Still a lot of work to do.

In WLS
Holloway explains decision to leave out Mackie and Manning

By David McIntyre 28/01/2017

Ian Holloway said he left out Jamie Mackie and Ryan Manning against Burton because he was concerned about the number of matches they have been playing.

Mackie recently returned after a long injury lay-off, while Manning, 20, played in four consecutive matches following a sudden call-up to the first team.

Holloway admitted they were badly missed in the 2-1 defeat at Loftus Road, where both players came on as a second-half substitutes.

But with trips to Newcastle and Blackburn to come in the next seven days, the R’s boss felt he needed to make changes.

Youngster Manning has impressed in recent matches
Holloway explained: “I was very concerned about Jamie playing all those games, and Ryan hadn’t played four games in six months before this.

“The balance of the team wasn’t quite right, so I’ll take full responsibility for that.

“I did it because of the two games we’ve got coming up and the amount of work that those two have being doing.

“It could risk them — Grant Hall has played in all the games and has gone and hurt his Achilles.”

Hall, who was taken off at half-time, is expected to miss the Newcastle game, as is Idrissa Sylla.

The mistake was to take out 2 of the players who have been instrumental in the run we were on . We lost Mackie's energy front and Manning's drive in midfield. What is wrong with Luongo? He's a decent footballer but doesn't make his mark enough , as evidenced by his zero goal tally. Also seems to spend 90 mins at jogging speed. Don't think I've ever seen him sprint. If the changes were made with Weds in mind that plan backfired spectacularly.

Not sure about that. The last thing we need is another shellacking by Newcastle.
