saw them twice in concert. both times fantastic, but the second time, with 40 songs was totally awsome, and shortly after that Davy was gone...now Mike.
I saw them in Liverpool, probably on the same tour (2011?) Davy Jones didn't seem too steady on his feet. But his singing voice still sounded great. Sadly he wasn't around for much longer. Mickey Dolenz didn't seem to know who or where he was and I think I read he went into rehab straight after that tour. Peter Tork seemed to be the one holding it all together. He sang this one which I'd never heard before that gig. Rip off of 19th Nervous Breakdown it may be, but it's still a cracking song.
RIP Peter.
P.S. has anyone done the "please accept Mickey Dolenzes" joke yet?
The Monkees was always the best TV show of the summer holidays back in, what, 1979-84? Seemed like it was on all the time. Although had a soft spot for the Red Hand Gang as wel
We were lucky to get all that. It’s probably fair to say they had a hell of an influence on the music tastes of the rave generation in the U.K. - every young kid watched them monkeying around as a kid
massive part of my childhood, when i was about 8 had a little set of biscuit tins and used to drum along to their songs on the telly much to the dismay of my parents and grandparents

Hi mate,
I saw them for the second and last time at the Manchester Apollo, with 3 tickets (returns to a ticket agency) that cost me £30 in total.
Agree about Davey, and also think Peter was the glue, especially when it was just 3 of them as Michael was off on Tipex duties for most of the last 2-3 decades.
I understand that when they reformed in the 80's they sold out Shay stadium faster than Michael Jackson. Harmless fun music from your youth, made for perfect morning tv, before going out to play footy with the mates.
