Far too lenient, especially when you take off the 50% reduction tariff.

There was always going to be an appeal in this case. In fact I stated this at the time of the verdict. Wherever there is one person's word against another there is always a danger of miscarriage of justice and that applies to Johnson, me or any of you. As far as sentence is concerned it is on the higher end of the expected period in a case such as this where it was always likely to be somewhere between 4 and 7 years so basically Johnson has little to lose by appealing against verdict and sentence. Had the judge given a 4 year sentence the risk of a longer sentence would probably have led to him not appealing against sentence.

Seriously - just stop.

There is ZERO chance of a miscarriage of justice when someone has pleaded guilty which is what happened in two of the three counts he has been sentenced for.

You insist that it was just his word against hers, and it wasn't. The fact that you didn't understand the evidence is neither here nor there.

And given that he appealed BEFORE sentencing also shows you don't understand that bit either.

He could have had up to 14 years. The fact that he pleaded not guilty to 2 charges and made the girl go through horrendous trauma reliving it all (she tried to commit suicide apparently) won't have helped him when it came to sentencing.

I hope is appeal fails and his sentence is increased.

And you're a disgusting human being.

The sentence for S9 and S10 offences is likely to be less where the victim is under 16 rather than under 13" (per Rose LJ in R v Corran and others [2005] 2 Cr.App.R.(S) 73).

Type/nature of activity: Penile penetration of the vagina, anus or mouth or penetration of the vagina or anus with another body part or an object

Starting points: 4 years custody
Sentencing ranges: 3 - 7 years custody

There were a number of significant aggravating factors taken into consideration. The judge listed them in a very detailed and fairly lengthy sentencing.

It's widely available to read.

WTF. This guy is either a) legally trained or b) I'll leave this up to you, as to how much he know's on this subject.
Johnston admitted he did act illegally from the outset and was subsequently found GUILTY on the rest, it can't be more clear cut than that surely?
He must have skin of a rhino as throughout this thread he's been consistent in the utter dross he's spouted.

Some of the additional stuff now allowed to be revealed is absolutely disgusting by the way. Extreme bestiality porno, STDs, Internet sites about underage girls (mocked up to look like youngsters I believe rather than actual underage girls) etc etc.

I can't believe that anyone who has defended him, or tried to do so under the pretence of a interest in preventing miscarriages of justice, can read what is now coming out and not feel ashamed. It's all being reported on Josh Halliday's Twitter feed (the Guardian reporter who has followed the case).
