| Ted Hendrix / RIP 14:46 - Oct 27 with 5083 views | Charlie1 | Hi everyone, Been a long time since I posted so for those who know / remember me, I hope you are all well. My brother and I Dad, Ted Hendrix, who was a frequent poster and known to many on here over god knows how many years, passed away yesterday in the early hours. My mum, brother and I were all with him at the end. Candidly, he did suffer for a couple of weeks and it was a difficult period for us all, but the last few days he wasn’t suffering. He was content and comfortable despite the cancer. Dad loved his club. His hero’s all played in the 60’s and 70’s when he was a kid growing up and causing mischief in west London. A brief story. Fathers / mothers obviously introduce siblings to their football clubs (or mental torture if you support QPR). Dad took me to Loftus Road in 86 for my first game against Liverpool in the Milk cup semi final. No idea when he inflicted it on my younger brother! I stopped going a few years back. Fell out of love with the game and found the Redknapp era awful ie players we signed and we lost sight of who we had become. In addition, my wife and I had a family which was my priority. When we became aware that Dad may not have long left, I took my two girls to Loftus Road for the first time, against Preston last month. In the back of my mind I thought it would be a no brainer. Few away fans, easy win etc. At half time I had two bored kids, tired and thinking what on earth is this, two down and ten men on the pitch. There is something special about Loftus Road when the lights come on, and when there is something more, deeper meaning to it all. Sure enough, the second half was magical. I did tell my girls numerous times that supporting QPR is massive highs and lows (typically lows). They loved it. The day after, they spent time with Dad for the last time (we didn’t know that at the time but I’m sure you can read between the lines re health deteriorating). Therein a conversation about QPR over the years and generations talking shop. And we gave him a program and A kick up the R’s. Somethings are meant to be. I’m aware many of you have asked for updates and probably contacted Dad. My brother Paul and I want to thank you all for your thoughts, best wishes and friendship over the years. This message board meant a lot to him, especially the last few years as he had a few health issues. Thanks again for the well wishes and support. Take care all. You R’S! | |

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 14:56 - Oct 27 with 2143 views | DWQPR | Didn’t know your Dad Charlie but from what I’ve read and also his numerous posts over probably every subject going he was a man of a clear and principled mind. Like you it was my Dad that introduced/inflicted the R’s on me back in the early 70’s. I’ve never regretted one moment. We lost Dad in 2014 and I still have such wonderful memories of him. No doubt the same will be with you. God bless you all and RIP Ted. | |

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 14:57 - Oct 27 with 2135 views | BristolR | RIP to your Dad, a true LFW forever R’s if ever there was one. Lost my Dad a while back now to cancer, a horrible thing to witness. Just remember that the time you spent together at the end would have meant the world to him. Much love to you all | | | |
| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 14:59 - Oct 27 with 2103 views | Gloucs_R | Ted was a legend on this board. Funny, grumpy, outspoken and honest. Clearly loved Rangers. I'm glad he's at peace. Big Rangers hugs to you and your family. | |

Your Dad was a fine man and i had the pleasure to know him a bit from match days. He had a lovely wit and great music taste! | Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:02 - Oct 27 with 2077 views | CiderwithRsie | Many condolences. Never met your dad but felt I knew him through this place and he was always a voice of reason. The no-nonsense way he told us all about his prognosis was typical. I'll also always remember his dry humour ("I shall call him Dave") All the very best to you and your family. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:10 - Oct 27 with 2007 views | nix | So sorry Charlie to hear about your dad. He was very much a part of the LFW family and his ruminations about life - particularly the horrors of the TV - will be remembered with fondness. I hope you will have some joy over the coming weeks and months remembering your dad as much as the sadness of his loss. Take care with your family x PS I hope your girls will continue the tradition even if sporadically | | | |

| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:20 - Oct 27 with 1938 views | HantsR | David, I remember you as Charlie, posting on here and some years ago (2010?), you gave me (Old-Nick) some very good advice about the London to Brighton cycle race, which I was undertaking at the age of 62. Your Dad, Ted, was also a generous sponsor so I was extremely grateful to both of you. I'd never actually met Ted although I realise that I was once physically quite close to him when Gareth Bale came into the Loft Terraces to retrieve the ball - Ted famously offering some helpful advice! One thing I remember that we shared, was our mutually favourite film, 'In the Heat of the Night'. A terrific film with Rod Steiger magnificent, and I would guess that the Ray Charles/ Quincy jones soundtrack made it even more appealing to Ted. Ted will be missed on this Board, a sad loss, but I really loved your tribute and send you and your family my condolences and wish you strength at this time. All the best David and RIP Ted | | | |
| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:21 - Oct 27 with 1934 views | FDC | Such sad news, but thank you for passing it on to everyone on here who loved Ted even if only through his many years of service to LFW. Hope his family and loved ones are doing ok. | | | |
| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:28 - Oct 27 with 1875 views | Snipper | Charlie, your dad is one of the nicest people I’ve met in all my years going down the Rangers. We had multiple chats at halftime on the concourse. We’d normally be chatting about how dismal things are regarding Rangers. Your dad was an absolute gentleman. May he rest in eternal peace. ❤️❤️ | | | |
| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:28 - Oct 27 with 1875 views | westberksr | David absolutely gutted to hear the news that we all knew was coming. Having lost my Dad last year you and the family were very much in my thoughts since Ted shared the news of his deteriorating condition. Even then, he was so 'Ted' about it, there can't be many more straightforward people than him. Always enjoyed his company and will fondly remember the few games I went to with him, along with his footy and music chat on here. What a top fella. Sincere condolences to you & your family and RIP Ted | | | |
| Ted Hendrix / RIP on 15:36 - Oct 27 with 1789 views | Ghost_on_the_Westway | Dear David Thank you for taking the time to post at what is so obviously a very sad and painful time for you. I’m glad The Rangers turned it on for you in the 2nd half against Preston - it seems very poignant that they should come up with “one of those Rangers games” on what must have been an emotional afternoon for you. I never met your Dad, but I used to love his posts - he certainly didn’t mince his words! My sincerest condolences to you and your family. RIP, Ted. | |
| I need a SAGA. What’s the SAGA? It’s ….. Queen’s Park Rangers. |

I can't add much other than he was one of my favourite LFW contributors. I wish you and family well.
