The Welsh stage looks it goes past Builth then to Treherbert Treorchy Aberdare then Nelson to Cardiff Massive for Wales All being well , we will pop over to Liverpool though I’d expect it will be bedlam They’re expected tong circa 250000 around the Pier Head and waterfront Pity they miss out Chester as they get a lift from Liverpool for the Welshpool start Was lucky enough to see the 2014 in Yorkshire and although a difficult time for us personally , it s a wonderful memory

Some great hills, Rhigos being one which is going to be a hell of a climb , hard enough in a car.

| 2027 Tour de France in Britain on 23:00 - Jan 15 with 2028 views | Dr_Winston | The TDF regularly does climbs of more than 2000 metres. There's nothing in Wales that will give them more than a basic workout. Snowdon itself is less than 1,100 metres. | |

People who just watch on TV don't realise the severity of the climbs and the distance they travel on the tour. The stages in the UK will only be a warm up.

Yeah, but it's mid Wales mun. It must be tougher than *checks notes*, uh, the Pyrenees.

Yes. It won't be classed as a 'Mountain Stage' and could be one for a breakaway particularly as some of the climbs are relatively close to the Finish. As you say, the climbs in the Pyrenees are brutal and so are those in the Alps.
| 2027 Tour de France in Britain on 09:36 - Jan 16 with 1824 views | onehunglow | Yes , we’re not talking about Ventoux, d’huez,or Tourmalet but the likes of Rhigos will test Minuscule in comparison but the landscape won’t be as desolate and the climbs though smaller will cause excitement so why are some playing it down It will give Wales massive exposure and give joy to millions apart from those who see Lycra and end up with hyper tension Personally , I shall be researching air bnbs and or a motorhome to watch It takes lots of planning and the riders are actually through in a flash on the straights so try to get a mountain stage and be prepared to walk miles to your spec It’s Bluddy marvellous | |

If you use a RV for the tour it might be useful for you to know that you are allowed to park overnight in all Powys council car parks. It's basically £10 for over 4 hours and then free overnight. Or just free overnight but I expect them to be full by then. But check the individual car parks. https://en.powys.gov.uk/articl

Thanks They will be heaving Last tour , hired a RV , we stayed on campsites in Masham and Elland Madam was terrific but they go so fast , it’s a blur but the pre arrival of the entourage is something It’s exciting and folk are very sociable We choose Elland as it was a hill stage and I thought we d be smart to walk to the top as it was a real hike and fewer would be there Wrong , it was rammed Son went to moors to watch and right out in the wilds were 60,000 apparently Unbelievable I’ve had countless arguments over the years on our forums over this event and stand by my feeling it’s the biggest sporting event in the world for spectating bar none It is unique and nothing compares Yes theyve always doped and taken whatever they can to supplement the body in this the cruelest brutal test of endurance I was in Amiens in 1962 for Anquetil’s third title and remember the blood on the riders I’ve watched every one that’s been televised

If you do go for hiring a RV do it now. The British GP is normally that weekend but the date is not confirmed yet. GP week you can't get a hired RV anywhere in the country and they book up year on year.

Yeah , it’s going to be challenging I don’t feel comfortable looking that far ahead but you make sense Ironic to be looking at other areas when we’d be a short train ride away from Liverpool but it will be bedlam there It’s captured folks imagination already [Post edited 16 Jan 11:55]

You don’t need an RV mun. Put a bike or 2 in the back of your car. Book a hotel in Swansea. On the day of the Welsh leg, park in Glynneath & cycle up to the Rhigos

You should also realise that it's great exercise for us old farts who cannot now kick a football without pulling a muscle ... and there's also the pleasure of wearing lycra! [Post edited 17 Jan 7:23]

That would have been me I wonder how many sections of the race will pass through 20mph zones and if so will the riders and support vehicles get dispensation or fined like the rest of us mugs.
