Wilson only came on as sub in that game, I think. In midfield, maybe, as I think he wasn't yet converted to a full-back. And he immediately scored the third with his first touch. One-touch Willo.

Wasn't the word that Francis didn't rate Wegerle's work-rate?
The story goes that they played squash and Francis won, and duly concluded that Wegerle wasn't up to it. Not sure if that was about work-rate or just will to win.
Given Wegerle's talent and how his career went there might be something in the latter point but I still think he was demonstrably better than anyone else we had.

Wow. Never heard that story, Rosie.
But he was a lazy lad to be fair. I loved him, but he was.
In the 90-91 season he got to 19 goals, 1 short of the magical 20-a-season, but a few games out he was just showboating. Lovely to watch, but no aggression.
Francis was having none of that.

Wegerle just remember he could do moments of skill that truly impressed. Shame him and Les weren't often matched up - could have been true dream two up front those two.
Perhaps Bonne Dykes may have more potential than those two old timers perhaps !!!!!!!!!
QPR were just solidly good in the late eighties and early nineties.
Yes to get a round of applause from Leeds fans was quite something
Remember when we scored five and Les completed his hattrick at Everton - second one in two days - the Goodison crowd were applauding us also.
Can't think that the opposition these days would ever clap a goal by their opponents these days !!!!!

See it more the lower you go down the leagues, see it quite regularly on the EFL show if someone scores a good goal in leagues 1 or 2
favourite cheese mature Cheddar. FFS there is no such thing as the EPL
After Roy's goal at Leeds a Leeds United supporter at work said to me 'it was a great goal but he would never ave scored it if Norman Hunter were playing'
I was at Roland road, I was the bloke shouting “pass it you greedy bastard “ as Roy went past his fourth man!
ha ha, you weren't alone, as he ran into the crowd of players I gave a sarky "Now what are you going to do?". Oh that. OK. As you were.
Penalties at Liverpool, ffs. The one I remember is when they beat us 1-0 to be confirmed as champions, Maddix slid in outside the area and the ref immediately gave a penalty. You could see the turf gouged out where the tackle took place. After the match Don Howe came over to applaud us, pointed to the gouge and shrugged.
