| QPR 25 (actually 22) man squad... on 11:48 - Sep 8 with 3878 views | PhilmyRs | What's 'home grown' - first thing I thought was they've come through our youth team but as Uncle had a YES, realised straight away that's not the point and must mean they're not categorised as overseas player? or am I wrong? Only Jimmy Dunne is listed as a YES which I guess means Irish players are fine? But shouldn't Lyndon Dykes be a yes? although appreciate he's basically Australian. Edit - can see a fair few have YES and some nothing against them which is not what I'd have expected so lost on what it means. [Post edited 8 Sep 2023 11:50]

I thiiiiink you have to have spent three years with an English team prior to the age of 21.

I don't think this has anything to do with nationality and purely whether they spent a certain amount of years at an English (or UK?) club before a certain age. Something like 3 years before their 21st birthday or something. Chair signed for us at 20 so couldn't be 'home grown'. Lyndon Dykes got to Scotland at 21. Jimmy Dunne played for Man Utd from the age of 10.

Several of the U21 list are effectively already included in the first team squad. Armstrong, Walsh & Larkeche OK. But when you have to include Rendell, Kelman, SDM and EDB to get to 22, you know you have an issue. Over the course of a season most clubs will need to use 25-30 players. Either we have to be lucky with injuries or SEVERAL U21s are going to have to step up. [Post edited 8 Sep 2023 12:21]

Thats what we're supposed to have been doing the last 7/8 years so a good thing that we might be forced to do it now and possibly find a few gems. Likes of Chair and Manning only got in at first through injuries to others and took their chance.
