New acronym to learn.

SCR = Squad Cost Ratio

This is the new FFP system that the PL has voted in for itself (not us, yet)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cgkeyj71m36o

"The clubs met in London to vote on three possible methods of replacing Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) got 14 votes in favour and six against, which is the minimum number that is required to exact a rule change.

Overall squad costs from the 2026-27 campaign will have to be limited to 85% of a club's revenue, although teams competing in Europe will have to adhere to Uefa's maximum of 70%.

Squad costs comprise player and manager wages, transfer fees and agents' fees.

Most notably it will end the loophole of selling capital assets, like hotels and women's teams."

Still favours the rich club though doesn't it? including those who bought their way to the top table.

it all depends on what they consider constitutes "revenue". Can we all do a Stoke and boost sponsorship by sponsoring anything that is nailed down? If this comes our way, be prepared to yoyo between the Champ and L1 as that is where our current revenue will take us...

Absolutely. The fairest way would be to simply say:"Every club can only spend n£m per season".

The way it currently works requires smaller clubs to somehow achieve a better return on investment than the larger ones and is patently unfair.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

The term - Financial Fair Play - should be deemed punishable under the trades description Act - more Financial Fair Play for the big boys and all the minions, its absolutely Financial Not Fair Play !!!

This may stop some differences but with this 30% variance available on squad costs, there is still likely to be more wiggle room for the big boys...

Was ever thus !!
