What's all this about public money in non repayable grants being given to Wrexham? Isn't anyone questioning it?

This is disgusting, the owners have billions so would have paid for the stand themselves.

Im hoping that as they seem to be decent folk they will refuse the grant as they dont need it, the money could be better spent elsewhere.

The furore over this will make them give it back.

We're playing in a taxpayer funded Β£25m stadium that we didn't pay for and earned hundreds of millions from a stint in the Premier League that it arguably provided the platform to achieve.

I understand the outrage on this call but it probably shouldn't be coming from us.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Correct.

But the council still own the stadium and we pay Β£XXXX every year for the use of it. And do we maintain it as well ? Is there any council input for maintenance ?

Will Wrexham council also be paid Β£XXXX a year for their financial input ?

It'd be interesting to see the figures, but I'd expect the local authority in Wrexham is quite happy with the increase in tourist spending and footfall as a result.

The council owned the Vetch which they got at a very good price because of the previous state of the Swans. There were all kinds of Grants and deals done and the ground was also meant for the ospreys. Wrexham own their ground and have a billionaire investor as well as the Hollywood's so criticism of public money being given to a private, wealthy group is surely justified. I know we benefitted from our situation with public money but I would say it was very different.

I'm sure there were grants used when our stadium was built, including one football related giving us priority over rugby.

I'd like to know how much the development of the club is bringing in.

It's a bit like the conversations we have about the airport, we know how much is going out but we need to know whats coming in to get a full picture,

So it's ok when we benefit from public funding, but others shouldn't? That's basically what you're saying.

Different because other clubs shouldn't be allowed to benefit from taxpayer support but we can?
