1. It was nice to see so many outside St Mary's pre match in the fanzones, not to everyones taste but the blaze of colour in the sunshine looks good and it's all money to the club.
2. We still lack a leader in the centre of the defence, have I said that before, only for about 7 years.
3. The atmosphere was flat especially in the second half, the Northam end was silent and you could hear a pin drop at times. Too many people think support is about spending £70 on a replica shirt and then sitting in it silently for 90 minutes.
4. The amount of taxis which are Toyotas as you walk to the stadium is weirdly fascinating, the richest man in this City must own a Toyota dealership

Spot on with point 3. The crowd only got going once the team did, it’s never the other way round. Chants never last more than 20 seconds. Exactly right about people getting all the kit, proclaiming to be great fans and then spending the game in silence. I was all in favour of moving the away fans and still think having them in the corner is the right place for them. The ideal would have been to have them in the Kingsland Northam corner as per Boro, Norwich where they are placed next to the home end giving the best of both worlds. I know that wasn’t feasible but as often observed our fans need the interaction with the away fans sadly.
As for point 2, THB was becoming that leader. Whether it’s easy to find good leaders who are of the quality we need is probably not as straight forward as it seems. There seems to be less and less leaders in the modern game, character and individuality is knocked out of them at a young age through over coaching. [Post edited 24 Aug 11:31]

Point 3. It was the first half that was silent. Apart from a lot of noise in the first 15 minutes it went very flat as Stoke threatened. About 10 minutes into the second half at 1-1 everyone around me was getting very impatient and the calls to get up the pitch were growing, that got even stronger and our support really started banging out the noise. Great support second half which inspired the team and we started dominating the game. | |

The Chapel isn't really about the away fans, it's just the anti-Northam in terms of song choice/culture.
