Can't see it happening, but would love Wood here.
I think we are going to see Carlton Cole here...

He seems to have stalled a bit in the last few years.

But he certainly has the attributes to be a successful championship striker if he's properly coached and motivated.

I would at that price.

100% YES!

Been banging on about him for couple of years.
He was immense for NZ at the last world cup and I think has suffered from a lack of first team opportunities .

Could've had him for under a mill a while back.

He'll not get a look in up at the Babes and I think a few words from Les along the lines of "come here, I'll mentor you and turn you into a beast of a striker" could do the trick.

WORTH THE PUNT TO REPLACE CHARLIE

He's just big lump with an average goal scoring record.

I thought everyone was sick of Zamora and lump it long tactics?

Sorry mate but disagree

Got a great touch, bit of pace and (unlike oh Bobby) the fella is built like a tank and can pick out some decent finishes

Maybe £2.5mill is a lot but I'm sure we'd be a better draw for him than Leeds.
He excelled when in London at Millwall

You nearly got me going there Blob!

I was wondering why anyone would have wanted the goalkeeper who cost us promotion in 1980 back at the club!

Does some good things but definitely doesn't have pace & not quite kicked on as would've hoped.
He'd be a Plan B option only for me

Yeah, bang on mate.
Like I said, even if we are in for him, which we should be, whether Austin goes or not (and he will) he is a very good centre forward, would love him here and with the way our dynamic duo are looking to set up their forward lined, he would be a potential legend.
In short, it would be my favorite signing of the year... If that makes sense.

Yeah first thing I thought of was that blond Adonis that was Docherty's goal keeper, Christ I'm getting old! Now just looking at Panini's Football 80 to jog the memory, who the fck is/was Karl Elsey? Can't remember him anyway.

Reminiscent of a (very) poor man's Mark Viduka on the big man with silky touch/lazy fat Antipodean bstard scale. But then Viduka was great and really ought to have worn the hoops at some point in my opinion.

Wolves' continued interest in him makes him more interesting than he otherwise might be to be honest. £2.5m would be steep but there's definitely a player in there - no telling how deeply buried though. Think he might fit in a little too well with all the other talented free spirit wastrels we've collected...

Dave,

You've only been & done it. I'm now all a tither!

A Welshman who the Doc played at right back at the start of the 79-80 season.

In my all time Rangers team he was a shoe in for the right back position & the Sainted Jose couldn't even shift him. Mind you, I did replace the left back with Bosingwa as he couldn't be left out!

What a dream defense we could muster - Elsey, Karl the Unready, Victor "bloody" Mobley & Bosingwa!

Anyhow, remembering Chris Woods was bad enough but I will now have to open yellow pages & make an appointment with a psychologist!
