Still remember my delight at their name coming out of the hat, then a few minutes later feeling slightly deflated as I realized I’d like to have seen them have a longer run(yes, back then we won cup ties).
They had a decent enough fan turn out, reasonable atmosphere, probably 30% of the Loft quite liked ‘em so no naughty stuff that day.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Shows how things have changed, we appear to have played a full strength side!

was thinking the same.
small squads, one sub change, after beating wealdstone we played west ham next, got through by a replay, then notts forest three times, but got knocked out by them.

Could you imagine the side we’d put out now if we draw a non league side in the 3rd round?

Vaguely recall 2 things about this game:

1. I missed it cos I had 'flu.
2. I'm sure it was 'famous' because it was the first time the BBC used a female reporter (Julie Welch?) to report after the game.

proper day out this one.
bunked off from school, this was after a replay at their ground.
think the miners strike was around at this time, think it was a 2 oclock ko.
nice 1-0 win, kids pen wall knock over by that lot, pitch invasion after,
but well worth beating that bunch.
