THe late Gordon Macey was club historian and sadly passed away in 2020.

He complied QPR The Complete Record in 2009 but so much water has passed under the bridge since I was wondering if an updated version is/will be compiled?

I am not volunteering but wondered if this mamouth task is being undertaken by anyone?

I can state that there is a long discussion on this between a number who want to keep the history of the club alive for memory and some considerable progress has been made. Whether a book comes out is not known, but a web site plus more is expected eventually.

Chris Guy is the new historian and is doing a very fine job. There is a Facebook page (RetroQPR) that he runs where there is quite a lot of historical information displayed.

I was lucky enough to be in contact with Gordon about 5-6 years ago when I sent him a late fan’s collection of folders containing various facts & figures that he compiled. I asked the same question, his reply was along the lines of it not being economically viable as we are not a Man United or suchlike.

I've just found this thread and am wondering what the current thinking is?

As below, the last season documented in Gordon Macey's book is 2008-09.

My understanding is that Gordon was keen to produce an updated version, but that the marketing people at the Club were not supportive at the time (there was apparently a suggestion that it should be an eBook). I have never found a digital presentation that replicates the ease and pleasures of browsing that a book provides and Gordon himself, I heard, considered that statistics were very hard to assemble and read on digital devices. You can though instantly use his book, for example it takes seconds to track through the 161 appearances Andy Sinton made for us - but reviewing full details of Akos Buzaky's 114 games - matches played and with whom etc etc just can't be done using internet resources.

I've been surprised at how many of our supporters aren't aware of The Complete Record. Perhaps Christian Nourry and the club hierarchy aren't aware either?

I'm sure they would support the idea of producing an up-to-date version?

Following the monumental effort of Chris Guy (who worked with John Devlin) to produce the magnificent Hoops Through History, it could be that the time is right to start the equally important (and historically essential) task of updating our playing history in the format so passionately achieved by Gordon Macey.

I set this website up a year or so ago which features loads from our history to go alongside my youtube channel. it's a work in progress there is loads I'd like to add to this such as details on every player, who they played against, scored against etc but it's not a quick or easy task.

https://www.qprhistory.co.uk/

I do agree an updated book would be great, would probably need to be something done by fans
