Begovic

He’s continues to be club captain, so obviously offers something at the training ground, etc.

I’ve always rated him and thought he was outstanding during his time at Stoke. But let’s face it now he is so bastxrd slow.

However, as has been said, he’s what we have so it’s not productive slagging him. That said, this is a fans website so you’d think debates about our team and players are it’s modus operandi.

For me we haven’t had a proper keeper since Smithies. He’s had quite a tale of misfortune since leaving us. A real shame.

Agree the pace made the ball dip late, but it’s in the middle of the goal. Pretty sure Begović gets pelters if he lets that in.

Great save from Cook though agreed.

I really can’t bring myself to blame Ainsworth. Apart from brief periods of irresponsible spending influenced average spikes we have been declining for years.

Something Is Rotten in the State of Denmark!

I wrote an article in a pensions journal years ago comparing companies without a clear plan and culture with Rangers (yes I am a sad tosser who will take any opportunity to shoe horn QPR in to all parts of my life). It’s only getting worse.

We need to decide on what we want to be and then agree a fxcking plan as to how we get there.

What a splendid surprise to come across this thread, whilst at our current lofty position.

My Mum & Dad introduced me to the Dan and I’ve passed their brilliance on to my kids. We’ve been lucky enough to see them live together as three generations (sadly minus Becker).

Never tire of their sound.

For me, the Dan are peerless.

It’s just so sad.

All the good; Warburton’s dignity, Barbet’s longevity, Johansen’s class, Austin’s legend - all memories, all gone, all history, all a point in time to reminisce about in moments when the thumping headache of reality subsides fleetingly.

I don’t give a fuxk about Brentford or Fulham but their superiority isn’t transitory, it’s well deserved and highlights how horribly our club has been run, Christ it seems since Jim Gregory.

This time it seems worse somehow as we had a glimpse of what we could be.

It’s just so sad.

Clive it’s great writing mate.

Agree. Unless we think that our frailty at the back is due to a weakness in a “defend from the front” approach.

The difference between Mitrovic and Austin on Saturday was that Mitrovic got the service in dangers areas, so had the opportunity to create something.

Not unlike Austin against Everton.

Glenn Roeder RIP
at 19:35 28 Feb 2021

He was my first football hero in my first QPR team.

He just purred. I honestly don’t think we’ve ever had a classier centre half (maybe Paul Parker, but, a completely different player).

I remember thinking, how is Glenn not playing for England with real indignation!!

I also remember being so gutted when he got the booking (I think against Luton) before the Cup Final, that kept him out of the replay.

Of course I tried to emulate the shuffle. Didn’t we all.

Big gap in QPR history today ❤️

Well, as I alluded to, my issue could be a simple lack of intelligence, but, now you have me wandering off in to a metaphysical haze.

Thanks for the help though, I do feel a wee bit embarrassed by the whole affair 🙂

Gents

Long, long time since I last posted.

The whole absence of pub, mates and club atmosphere has really hit me in the solar plexus.

Anyway, hope all fellow Rangers travellers are well.

Reason for the post; out for a run this morning and passed someone wearing a scum shirt. I realised that I need a new QPR beanie to give my wanxer gesture appropriate context.

I don’t know if I’m being dense, but, trying to buy said beanie from the club website is about as easy as Only Connect.

Any clues on how to navigate the Labyrinth?

If I have to get it off Amazon I don’t think I’ll bother.

How much time does Warburton have?
at 08:13 12 Jul 2020

I’ve logged on for the first time in months just to up tick that post 👏👏

I wouldn’t knock anyone for having an opinion, but, the willingness of some to welcome another managerial merry go round is baffling to me. It’s almost like a death wish.

For the first time since this set of owners have been here, we have a sensible, sustainable strategy. From Hoos, to Les, through to Ramsay, Eustice and finally Warburton.

This post lockdown period has been disappointing and yesterdays performance was unacceptable, but, I think we really do need to put it in context.

A “sack the manager” thread again.

It’s worse than talking about Covid...or Brexit

I really can’t understand the schadenfreude on either side. It’s so utterly perverse.

As the Greek economist Yanis Varoufakis warned, the whole of Europe should be terrified of a Germany in economic depression.

For me, I want Brexit to be a roaring success. I live in the UK FFS.

Warburton's Swansea preview

Defence has been woeful all season. You have to question whether it’s coaching or personnel. I think it’s a bit of both.

With signings like Barbet it should have been patently obvious how we were going to set up.

My pre season expectations weren’t great. I’d have bitten your hand off to avoid relegation. Despite the gloom, we’re still miles off and at the same time have developed prize assets like Eze, Samuel and hopefully now Masterson.

And we’ve scored 47 goals FFS!

In summary, the destination is going to be broadly the same as the last hand full of seasons, but, the ride has at times been joyful and the trajectory on the up.

Next year slightly better again.

We have a good coach here chaps, I’m convinced of this.

Falling Out Of Love..
at 19:46 30 Jan 2020

Here’s the thing. I also was going to sack it off on Saturday too, but, my young lad ordered us to go.

It’s an age thing gents.

This nostalgic toss, that pervades everywhere, that things were better in the old days.

Of course we think they were.

We could drink 10 pints a night and still operate for work the following day. We actually had the desire and ability to shag more than once a night. The idea of a night it with an M&S meal for one and a decent Malbec wasn’t a heinous anathema.

And next season was going to be our season!!!

But they weren’t better. Mostly they were shit and they were almost certainly not better than they are today.

And I’m no Steven Pinker.

There’s an inevitability about us selling our treasures, due to the appalling way the club was run.

For for while I’ve been resigned to a philosophy of “enjoy them while you can”.

Mind you it’s galling when you think of the spunkfest of waste there was on the likes of Chris Samba, et al, players we had no affinity with or no story of progression through the club.

It’s been a bloody steep learning curve, but, we have no option than to keep learning, until being a team that punches above its weight is in our DNA again.

Try twitter mate. You can troll anon about any subject you like. Hours of masturbatory stimuli.

As for Lumley. He’s got obvious potential, as shown by some excellent performances for us and on loans, but, he’s a kid. Hopefully, when in his 30s, he will look back on this season as what helped to make him an outstanding stopper.

If you think we’re Man City and can jettison players rather than nurture them, then I suggest you go back to school.

I hope Lumley comes back stronger, forces Kelly to improve and we have two outstanding goalkeeping choices.

Bus stop in Hounslow
at 13:27 15 Jan 2020

Went to school in Hounslow and many of my pals are (quite rightly) Bees. My affinity for the Hoops came from my granddad taking me down Rangers at the exact same time as the Roeder shuffle era. The rest has been mostly hugely disappointing.

Anyway, I always follow these simple rules:

Bees: ugly kit, historic struggling in the lower divisions, links with Stan, Devlin an Rs fan, now playing nice attractive football, still ugly kit though - fundamentally OK

Fulham: nice stadium, good beer in surrounding boozers, nearly went bust, Keegan, Tigana, Michael Jackson, play nice attractive football - fundamentally OK

Chelsea: concentrated evil

Stick to these rules and life will go serenely.
