Charity Park Rangers, Soft under belly
at 20:37 18 Sep 2021

It was one of those days and of course i'm disappointed.

But in both of the defeats in the past four days, we looked mostly excellent, playing such fluid exciting football. It will come, it will click, be patient i reckon, this team is something a bit special.

Bournemouth are good. I said after 30 mins i said that we'll be lucky to get out of this without a hammering and in the end a draw would get no complaints from either side. Still think we look a class act but god we need to tighten up at the back. Makes Saturday super-important in defining our character and momentum.

Don't think the UK govt require you to test before flying out to your destination. The rest of it is correct though.

It is easy to be an armchair manager and i can't think of any alternative to Southgate, which is why i don't really watch England on TV except on the big big occasions. Haven't done for years really...boring football that ultimately disappoints...it pre-dates Southgate.

I'm one of the ones that is unconvinced about Southgate. I'd have a decent 'win rate' managing England against most of the cannon-fodder they play these days.

Truth is he was a bit lucky (Denmark game excepted) in the then woeful in the Euros.

The final was unforgiveable:

1. Didn't change things when Italy were swarming over us like a rash 1-0 up.
2. Bringing on two subs at the end when pretty much their first touches were taking 'winner takes all' penalty shoot out.
3. Giving/letting an international and junior rookie (Saka) the responsibility of taking the 5th penalty.

Maybe i'm wrong and he's a visionary and will lead us to world cup glory. Hope so.

2 tickets for Oval tomorrow for sale
at 08:10 4 Sep 2021

I've got two tickets for England India at Oval for tomorrow (Sunday). One adult and one U16. £90 for the pair (face value £60 + £30).
They're great seats, row 1 Block 15. I have them as e-tickets so can just forward them.

Message me soonest if you want them.

BC

Ps. They'll be no problem an adult going in on the kids ticket...worse case scenario is they'll make you upgrade the kids ticket at the box office but very unlikely.

It's a shame. Never warmed to Tottenham, despise Chelsea, always quite liked Arsenal..

You might be right, i don't know, but he's replaced by Eddie Mair (who's ok but a bit banal) and Jo Good who is moved to 1am graveyard slot is replaced by Jeanette Kwakye (who i don't know and can't judge).

If the listening figures for elms and goode are plummeting then fair enough, if not or they think they'll boost them with these presenters, then also fair enough, but my day is a little bit poorer for it.

Dare i suggest that he's the wrong gender and ethnic group for the BBC these days? It's a big shame - he was my constant companion over these past 18 months WFH.

Easy to be magnanimous in victory, but until we scored thought Coventry looked a very good side, who will cause trouble for many teams this season. The first half was pure end-to-end entertainment, just a great afternoon.

Spine tingling

Dieng - Jordy, Dickie, Barbet - Stef, Willock. What a spine we have in this team, struggle to find fault with any of them today - immense.

RIP Charlie Watts

My biggest regret is not taking my (then 16 year old) daughter to the Twickenham gig in 2018. She wasn't bothered and so i decided against spending a lot on a ticket for her and went with mates instead. I wish i had've forced her.

Charlie would be happy about how the cricket is going though - both he and Mick are big on test cricket.

Not sure, but David Grohl has collaborated with Mick (and maybe Keith) in recent years so it's a possibly but i don't think i'd go. Stones without Charlie ain't the Stones.

Been lucky enough to see the Stones many times in venues big and small over the years. Two standouts were at the Astoria in 2003 and Desert Trip Indio in 2016. Last saw them in 2019 in Santa Clara, CA and thought then this will be the last time, alas i was right.
