Less football is a good thing. Football's fking shit at the moment. Reducing the burden on fans' time is the merciful thing to do.

I really hate pop punk. It's pop, it's not punk. And this veers worryingly close to it but I really like it.

I watched it yesterday and liked it too. Emma Stone and Jessie Plemons were excellent in it. I can't imagine watching it ever again but it was good.

Third film I've watched recently that had a tag of 'comedy' on it and absolutely wasn't.

Orgy - Blue Monday. This is my go-to version because, while I like the original, I hate Bernard Sumner's voice so much.

Morphine - Thursday.

Reuben - Song for Saturday

The Cure - 10:15 Saturday Night. Live version from the best concert video ever. Porl Thompson shreds up that solo.

Narrow Head - Sunday. Pretty good song from a pretty good album from a band that are ripping off Pumpkins and Deftones in equal measure.

Finley Quaye - Sunday Shining. An impossible song to dislike.

Re #6

I've been considering one of those. The rolling cylinder ones right?

I bought a whetstone and while I think my technique seemed alright, it didn't really sharpen up anything. People rate these Horl things but they're pricey.

F**k yeah. Slow cookers are the tits.

The only time I saw Alvin Lee was on Night of the Guitars which was a concert shown on TV in the 90s. Alvin Lee, Pete Haycock, Randy California, the guy from the doors, Leslie West. It was alright.

I've posted it here before no doubt but it's the best thing from that night and one of my favourite guitar performances. Pete's playing is so tasty.

It's much harder to play than it looks. Always gives me trouble. And I've not even attempted the solos.

Matteo is amazing but I sort of hate his style of playing. When I was a kid learning to play I had real guitar heroes who not only played great stuff but it was accessible, you could actually learn it even if it was hard, and it was cool. It existed in songs that I liked.

Matteo and everyone else are just there on YouTube creating an arms race of guitar technique. If you're 13 now and that's the standard, it has to be demoralising. The first time I saw Hendrix on TV I was blown away but I recognised it all as normal guitar technique.

These c**ts are doing tapping on acoustic guitars. You ever tried to tap on an acoustic guitar? It sounds like shit. But their videos are edited and the sound is tweaked. Good luck ever getting close to it. And what's the end goal? You can't use this shit in a band.

It's like how you used to get those football trick guys who could do 200 keepie-uppies off their scrotum and have to ball come to a perfect stop on their chin or whatever but they never played actual football because the skills didn't translate.

I respect it but it's not helping guitar playing in the long run.

My least favourite part of going to QPR is having to stand up whenever anything positive happens. Between the non-existent knee room and my own failing limbs I just can't be c*nted with standing up to see that we almost got a corner.

I bought a rice cooker mainly to save hob space when doing other cooking and it's great.

I had this at a Killing Joke gig a few years back. I'm stood near the front, in front of the guitarist. First song kicks in. The guy next to me starts dancing wildly with a near-full pint of lager that goes over me.

F**k this I thought as I headed to the back.

Like calm down, it's just a band. You don't need to spazz out like you're at a church in Atlanta.

It's not all bad news though. I made a decision this year to stop putting up with nonsense at work. Like a zero tolerance attitude to it. I've always been much like my forum persona at work (I'm amazed I've never been fired) but it was always in a jokey way, testing boundaries. But now I'm saying no a lot more and calling out peoples' bullshit.

It's good. What are they going to do? Fire me? They'll need to fire Fat Useless C**t Tony before they fire me.

It's a confidence that comes from age. Like my boss was trying to get me to come back to office a bit more. I called bullshit on that right away. You want me in? Get me a desk, a car park space and a desk/internet set up better than what I have at home. Otherwise, eat my entire arse.

Songs In Your Head…
at 21:27 15 Nov 2025

I've always got music playing in my head. As such I need to be careful because if the wrong song gets stuck in there I'll be impossibly unhappy about it.

Luckily I've got a go to eraser song, one that I try to stick on my head to erase something worse.

And for no good reason it's the Alien Ant Farm version of Smooth Criminal.

I've been known to walk out of places if they're playing anything particularly heinous. Mainly supermarkets. I'll leave that motherfker right there. My wife doesn't even question it now. She just knows I'll be back in four minutes after I've hummed/imagined a few verses of Smooth Criminal and let whatever shit song it was play out.

It's serious shit though. I've just got a musical brain. Like one time I heard a song that I half recognised. I had to remember the main riff for the whole time I was out. Got home like an hour later. Worked out the riff on guitar and played it down the phone to my brother.

It was, apparently, To Cut a Long Story Short by Spandau Ballet.

Only a couple of songs but Kajagoogoo. But only when Limahl left. And mainly because Nick Beggs is a bad motherfker on that bass.

I liked it. It almost felt like a play. The ending would have been perfect but they put an extra minute on it which took something away from it. But yeah, super stressful.

Watched Black Phone 2 last night. The first one was average (not sure why it got a big cinema release) and this one is worse. It feels like Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (Dream Warriors) at times. But not as good.

Vince Gilligan, the writer of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, has a new show out called Pluribus.

Two episodes in and it's great. It's like nothing I've seen before.

The odd thing about keepers is that the fans manifest their shitness.

Like they'll be really solid for years and then will do something ridiculous in one match and suddenly they ain't shit. And the more the crowd gets on their back, the more they overthink things and that means they're less reflexive and natural and they then turn into assclowns.

I don't think we've had great keepers since I got my first season ticket in 95/96. We've had some good ones or ones who've had good runs. But it's fun when they have a performance where no-one is going to score against them. Like Sommer vs Villa that time where he was unf**kwittable.

And I maintain that no c*nt was scoring against Green in the Play Off final. I had a real sense of zen in the second half and even said to my mate, as shit as we were playing, that there was no way Derby could win because they absolutely were not going to get the ball past Green.
