QPR continue to state intent, adding Gray to attack - Signing
at 12:48:25

I suspect that behind the scenes Warbler has been very direct with Mr. Gray and told him words to the effect of" You're drifting, and now you're a father to twins you need to get your act together." Warbler is probably one of the few people that Mr. Gray might actually listen to, and I suspect that he also knows he needs to do this, hence his willingness to come here (as well as it being just down the road). The words "Andre has a point to prove" are probably the most important ones in what Warbler had to say on this, I think.

Perfect penalties rescue QPR's cup hopes - Report
at 17:56:44

Pleased you caught the Faysal-love, Clive! To my mind, sending him out on loan to a league below might actually be a retrograde step, when, as I wrote last week, he just seems so in control of what he's doing now. He could easily deal with a run in the first choice first team squad.
I actually missed the chance to be at the ground last night, despite it being virtually at the bottom of my garden, but snuck quite a few glances whilst telling myself I was finishing off a very key work proposal. To be fair, I got the order today..👍

Season Preview 21/22 – Contenders
at 13:38:19

Reading this just further underlines what an amazing job Sir les, Lee Hoos and Warbler's Crew have done in organising us and making us battle-fit, when you compare it to madhouses like Fulham and Forest. Sorry, Clive, but all you've achieved with this preview us make us all believe that this is definitely our year🤣

Also, I think Faysal Bettache has looked almost faultless so far. I expect he'll get farmed out on loan a la our previous conversations on Conor Masterson (or Ilias Chair and Ebere Eze) for example, but to me, Bettache already looks very comfortable and confident at this level, either playing as a 4 or an 8.

I think the answer to the issue will be Luke Amos, Clive, assuming he doesn't have any understandable lingering doubts about his knees holding up. (What is it about this club and dodgy knees??)🤢

I add my thanks for all your hard work, blood, sweat, tears, beers, swearing, random graphic sexual innuendos, cathartic (I hope) insights into your personal woes and everything else that goes with being passionately obsessed with what I honestly believe is the single most unique football club in the current 92.

I think we're all starting to believe that next season could be "the one", so I think you're going to have quite a lot to sink your literary, cultural and historical genius into, Clive. We'all all be there with you 🍻🥂

I think you've set it up nicely for an extended afternoon at the Crown and Sceptre, Clive!

I get the sense there'll be a bit of a party atmosphere there, even if its a slightly soggy one..

Enjoy!🍻

A matter of routine - Report
at 14:31:49

Ok, Derby, if I take you at your word, then Dykes needs to commit to staying with his allotted centre back, and the rest of the team need to get consistently tight to whoever they're picking up. Too often for me, Dykes seems to get caught ambling vaguely towards the keeper, meaning that neither the line nor the player gets covered.

As I said, when we commit, it works, and we've been generally much better at doing this over the last few weeks with tangible positive results. However, we're still too sloppy and inconsistent in this and a few other areas.

A win in third gear as you rightly say, and for all the obvious positives, I found myself getting a bit frustrated that we didn't press home our advantage more clinically (as the risk of plagiarising the Warbler Bingo Cliche card).

Foe me, the one weakness still remaining in Lyndon Dykes' play is a consistent, high conviction high press on the opposing goalkeeper, and you could see Sir Charles of Hungerford remonstrating with him a couple of times on this issue. Of course, the fact that the first gal came from exactly that kind of press on a central defender only served to underline that point.

Again, to rinse the MW cliche handbook, this team looks so much better when on the front foot, that it always irritates me when we take our foot of the gas and seem to lose focus and concentration, meaning that our three centre backs in particular get put under unnecessary pressure. However, I strongly suspect that this is a message being hammered home behind the scenes at Harlington, so we can hopefully expect a lot less sloppiness next season to go with the genuinely exciting forward play we've been treated to this year.

Dykes gathers rich Rangers rewards from dominant Swansea show – Report
at 18:37:05

Its funny how performances like this make you forget (and forgive) some of the misfiring that we had a few months ago! As you rightly said, Clive, these are the nights that we cherish as Rangers' fans, where the whole team just purrs like a well-oiled high performance sports car engine.

As I said after the Boro game on Saturday, what impresses me the most at the moment is that there's always someone ready to step in and mop up if somebody else makes an error, which shows at least that everyone's on the same page and that the Warbler and his crew are getting their message across.

As Burnley said, here's hoping that MW gets his wish, and we get to keep everyone together over the next few months.

Unfortunately, Kernow, for all the posturing that the Premier league is doing now, can you really see them kissing the self-appointed "Top 6" goodbye? As Clive said in this piece, they know they hold all the cards, and having been able to watch QPR play Chelsea at Loftus Road live from my very nice hotel bedroom in Busan, South Korea a few years ago (Ji-Sung Park days, of course) and all the coverage that the Champions League gets wherever I've travelled, its pretty clear that the big guns will pull massive worldwide audiences, even if the actual games are as boring as f8ck.

Yes, I think you're right to say that there'll be some kind of rear-guard action fought by the lower league clubs, but in terms of sponsorship, it will be akin to scraping the bottom of a leaky old bucket. The saving grace being, perhaps, that the greedy winkers (spelling mistake) will helpfully price themselves out of the mass market.

Foe clubs like ours, however, the dreams of progression and making it back into the "big time" will recede permanently into the distance.

Frustration to thrills, disaster to delight, one extreme to another - Report
at 20:46:43

This match was my favourite of the season so far, because it was so mad. There was literally not one single boring moment in it, and for me the real plus was the fact that the team coped with every problem that it faced/brought on itself, and it showed that (a.) Warbling Warbs does know his squad well and how to make it work most effectively, even if it hasn't always been obvious to us plebs on the outside looking in (b.) That he does have more than a "Plan B is to do Plan B better" approach - we must have had at least three different formations during the last hour alone and (c.) The team is fighting for each other and the manager, even if that involves actually fighting each other, as the moaning at Seny contrasted with the lively congratulations that Joe Lumley got after the second big save in particular from his teammates illustrates.

All of this gives us a really firm foundation to build on, although, of course, the summer
transfer window and pre-season still gives us plenty of opportunity to turn this into the next episode of a never-ending soap opera, as we're all used to by now..

QPR’s calamitous cave-in gives Millers hope - Report
at 17:16:49

This would have been the perfect game for Dom Ball to have been introduced into. His head down charge would have occupied one or two of the Rotherham midfield and might have freed up some space for the more creative outlets.

For some strange reason, we seemed to be keen to stroke the ball around backways and sideways across the back line, whereas when we did go at Rotherham, they didn't turn out to be as solid as they looked from afar, and, as you mentioned, Clive, just repeatedly fouled all of our creative players.

We basically let ourselves get bullied by the bigger boys in the playground, playing into all the old "flitty, farty" stereotypes from the pre-Holloway era. I suspect some of the dogs of war will return to face Uncle Neil at the weekend.

Dykes comes good as QPR nudge Owls towards doom – Report
at 15:25:34

The one thing still missing from Lyndon Dykes' displays over the last few games for me is conviction and urgency in closing down the opposing goalkeeper when a loose ball is played forward and the keeper is about to clear it. We've won possession in dangerous areas or forced mistakes from keepers and defenders much more in recent weeks by going for the high press, and it really sends a message out to the opposing team that they're in for a hard time.

Other than that, you would scarcely believe that this is the same player, and he struck the right balance in his post-match interview between self-confidence and humility (hope you were listening, Todd Kane!!). Not sure about the banana bleached hair, though - is he attempting to recreate the impression of having spent long, languid afternoons on sun-kissed Aussie beaches in that well-known exotic metropolis that is the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham??

Really pleasing for George Thomas to be able to make a telling contribution and I thought yesterday really showed why you rate him, Clive. We really do have lot of "excellent young boys" who can play various shades of the No.10 role which seems to be all the rave these days.

I also think Faysal Bettache looked neat and tidy again when he came on, and it was good to see him getting involved around the 18 yard box rather than just deep.

Happy days are here again (finally) - hopefully this performance and our points tally since January will go a long way to persuading Saint Charles of Hungerford to stick around (at a respectful, fully FFP-compliant and completely above board cost, of course..).

Its a shame Myke, but I have to say I genuinely don't understand your viewpoint at all. I think you also have to transpose Kane's behaviour into your own workplace, and ask yourself how you would feel if you heard a work colleague mouth off in a public setting about their own abilities and openly denigrate yours, assuming you were performing similar roles. I can tell you that in mine, that colleague would be given a VERY stiff talking to, and most likely an official warning.

Then clearly you also disagree with the stance that the club has taken - or did you miss what MW had to say on the matter?

More importantly, it seems that you have failed to grasp the significance of Kane's idiocy in terms of its impact on squad togetherness - or do you endorse the actions of a player who is clearly lost in his own self-image upsetting another member of the squad with at least equal value to himself? That would be a somewhat dangerous precedent, I would (respectfully) suggest..
