Here you go we won the World Cup in an English speaking country, this is the first time since then that we are playing the World Cup in an English speaking country. It might well be coming home.

England with Tuchel. I had real worries early in the tournament but Tuchel has instilled that old German mentaility of winning regardless of how you play and belief you can win. Bellingham truly World Class 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.

If we have learned anything about our transfer dealings in recent years we usually enter the arena in August. Nothing to worry about.

We now have a German manager and so far he seems to have made us into one of those efficient German national teams of the past that just ground out results through their sense of belief in their ability to win.

Monumental win - big result this, sets a marker to other favourites who think we might be a soft touch. Onward to the Norwegian Vikings now.

Harry Kane
at 16:11 2 Jul 2026

Harry Kane is just pure class in my lifetime of watching England from around 1970 onwards without doubt the best striker ever to wear an England shirt. His all round game is superb as a striker comparing him to Gary Lineker who was also a great striker, whereas Lineker was a goal poacher with a tremendous amount of speed near and around the 18 yard box, Kane is a much better all round player who creates as much as is laid onto him. I would say the move to Bayern Munich has pushed him up a level and his career is really at the top now, not bad for a 33 year old. Deserves all his success and seems a thoroughly decent bloke and a great role model for young aspiring footballers.

Harry Kane is a real saviour and the best centre forward in the modern game. We are a bit of a mess defensively and it will be our undoing, going to be a real slog in the Azteca. In a strange way starting as underdogs in that environment may work in our favour, but a fully pumped up Mexico with 90,000 Mexican fans could be a little too much for our boys, but you never know.

Summer transfer rumours 2026
at 23:15 30 Jun 2026

I don't see much point in spending much in the Summer, other than work on getting a goalkeeper and a replacement for Field. We have enough wingers just need to get them fit and firing. Hoping that we can get Morrison playing for us again as he has shown a lot of promise and has been rather hard done by being shipped off to Scotland. With Chair, Smyth, Saito & Poku we have enough cover for wide players.

Germany have massively regressed as a football giant since their World Cup triumph in 2014. Think this was the first time since then they have got out of the group stage, only to be eliminated at the first knockout game.

Just not convinced we are going far in this one. Was always convinced that Southgate had a system and we progressed, Tuchel just does not seem to know his system has a ring of Capello about him.

At the moment this World Cup looks a bit like the South African 2010 and Brazil 2014 for England, early knock out after group stage. Come up against a better, quicker team next round and we are out.

Scotland World Cup .

Scotland had a great chance after the win against Haiti to progress but they have almost blown it in the 1st 5 mins of their last 2 games, so typically Scotland in tournament football.

I am a great supporter of Eze, but I think Tuchel should have taken Cole Palmer instead of him. Palmer has a more varied attacking game to open up defences, as was proved in Euro 2024, although Southgate's non risk approach in the final again came back to bite him. I do have reservations that when we come up against a real quality attacking side like the French or Spanish we will be found lacking. I hope we do go all the way and yesterday was a bit of a blip against a very well organised defensive team. Favourites for me at the moment are the French they look strong all round and with Mbappe who looks the real deal along with Olise, Dembele & Barcola are a real attacking force.

Newcastle must be laughing all the way to the bank selling Gordon to Barcelona for a decent profit. Always think he was overated even in his breakthrough season a few years back when he played for Everton at LR in the league cup when we beat them on penalties. I think our midfield looks unbalanced, always liked Mainoo but he looks like not even being seen, Tuchel may regret not taking Palmer as he has the ability to unlock defences through the middle. Anderson still not sure about him although decent in the air. Saka on the right and Madueke on the left would be a much better option, Saka made us a lot better when he came on and Djed Spence needs dropping. Feel Henderson selection is a waste unless he has been brought in as cover for Rice. Think Tuchel should have brought on Ivan Toney last night to rough up that Ghanian back line a bit as it was all a bit too easy for them. Lucky escape on the potential penalty as it looked like Ghana should have had one.

Great start for England, if we are going to go deep in the tournament then attack is the way to go. I feel us and France have the best attacking options in this World Cup and they looked very good in their 2nd half against Senegal. Great to see Rashford has re-discovered his mojo and Bellingham looks up for it. Just look at those attacking options we have led by King Harry, without doubt the best centre forward around.

Boy Kemper signing looks good, 6ft 1inch, need big fxxkers in this division, especially at the back. Hopefully at last our management etc. are seeing that midget united don't get anywhere. Time and again at LR have watched these giants of teams just snuff us out.

Now the competition has been expanded to 48 teams it is in my view diluting the whole thing, the group stages will drag along for another two weeks. All about further money grabbing, thought they had it right with 32 teams which already seemed a lot. It all seems a bit messy to me and the disinterest is setting in. Going the same way as the FA Cup it will end up being dumbed down so much that it loses the credibility of being the pinnacle of World football.
