Bittersweet symphony — Report
at 14:05:12

Don’t need to say ‘great work’ Clive (it is), but glad you picked up on Adomah’s behaviour. Wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘cut ties’ chat has already been had.

I loved the day yesterday, the crowd were excellent, which is one thing we haven’t always been this season (and probably the only thing I disagree with you on), but I couldn’t help feel the over the top celebrations were a bit cringe. My actual worry about Ainsworth, bar the 17% possession, which I genuinely feel he’ll develop over next season, is that he enjoys and covets the role of underdog a little too much. Maybe it will suit some of these players, but we need to be a bit more ballsy in what is, as you always point out, a league of very middling standard at best.

QPR make their Carrow Road point — Report
at 20:51:05

I was baffled watching Sky last night that Dieng wasn’t MOTM.

I liked Tim’s performance more because of the early yellow, but he didn’t have the impact on the game that seny did.

We are so close this year, closer than last and yet it is - as you point out in the report - the depth of our squad that is the issue. If we remain there or thereabouts in Jan, it will be really interesting to see if there is any kind of further gamble by the board, especially after the issues of last January.

Ironically, I feel that the one person that could have made a difference to this years team is Andre Gray and his ability to finish. His absence has allowed Armstrong time, but when you see Bonne come on rather than Gray the chances of a late winner seem much slimmer

You know what Clive? I completely agree with you. I live in Nottingham, if we lose Friday I’ll take weeks of rubbish from mates and people I don’t especially like about Cooper’s Red Army, but I’d happily win tonight instead (were the choice there of course)!

Come on Rangers gutted I can’t be there tonight but hoping for a stream and a positive result!

City's smash and grab sucker punch stuns QPR - Report
at 19:58:42

Great stuff again Clive. I was gutted yesterday but by the time I’d had a Guinness in the White Horse i felt a lot better as the reaction of home crowd and players afterwards spoke volumes.

A side note; do you make notes during the game or watch a replay before writing the report? I struggled to recall some of the attacks you mentioned and Id only had a few pints pre-game!

Familiar failings and tough questions - Report
at 19:15:39

I’m a massive fan of some of the football that Warbs has had us playing, but if we can’t manage a goal against Wycombe from open play, and still show the same old failings defensively, it’s not even a question.

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is that Warbs being out of contract at the end of the season leaves him a dead man walking anyway. All the players know that if his contract isn’t being renewed or extended then he’s going anyway.

There are only two ways the board can play this now as far as I’m concerned. They either double down on Warbs and give him an extra year, but most importantly have a clear strategy for recruitment in January.

The alternative is very simple. Get rid and bring in Ainsworth, Cook or Cowley. After watching Wycombe yesterday, what Gaz has got out of that very limited budget and squad is nothing short of amazing. I think it’s time.

Olise's late strike ruins return of crowd to Loftus Road - Report
at 20:30:59

I’m glad you have been very clear in your thoughts on the lack of service for Dykes, Clive.

The type of ball he got from BOS vs Brentford is so rare and we are so unlikely to cross early and accurately, instead allowing two or three defenders to close around him, that I struggle with the amount of criticism he gets.

What is most frustrating is that this, as well as many of the things you mention, are very obvious and yet we make very few attempts to change this.

With Eustace and Banfield around you’d think they must be advising MW to change tactics. Sinton as a very knowledgeable ex player and Les must know that the service to our forwards is piss poor. Does this back up all the comments about MW being so stubborn.

I genuinely don’t want MW to go but it would be difficult for him if we don’t at least beat Wycombe this week.

Absolute genius Clive, enjoyed reading this immensely👍🏻. I think you’re giving Chair a bit too much credit though for the second goal as I’m sure it was a shot from him that was either deflected out or pushed away by Smithies? Great work though. I’m hoping Chair stays in that role from now on.

Ramsey takes the long walk, but the root cause of the problems remains - Column
at 23:22:29

Superb piece Clive. I'm still not convinced on Mark Hughes though!

Despite all the crap, during the Fernandes reign and by hook or crook, most QPR fans of my generation (40 sadly) have had possibly their best day supporting Rangers with a last minute winner scored with just 10 men at Wembley. Many fans go through their whole lives without something like that happening, but now is the time for a recruitment process that, with Warnock deputising for a month or two as manager, can afford to have a thorough interview process to find the right man.

Let's hope Hoos can pick as well as he has previously?
