beautifully written as always Clive. Your efforts keep us poor expats sane.. ATM here in NZ there are the bunch of us in the "official New Zealand R's" group (161, out of a pop of 5.5 million) All trying to be optimistic, but not me I'm afraid. You think last season was bad? I fear this season we'll start bottom, stay bottom and we'll have to watch one of our heroes try to manage a team that is simply not good enough, nor cares enough, to win a game.
I may even bet on us losing each week just so I have a tenner to start saving for the arsenic (expensive over here) I'll need by May... |

I think Rangers would have gone up automatically if it wasnt for the terrible run of injuries mid-season.. No strikers = no goals. Austin, Morrison, Krancjar, Hoillet all have goals in them and a barton +1 central midfield is always a challenge. I can see it being a very very tight game with one goal in it. You guys have been playing better than us recently but we've got a team full of experience that perhaps wont be phased by a big game at wembley - so nerves on the day could come into play, especially first 15-20 mins.

Hit the nail on the head Clive. The hollow feeling in my stomach watching 7 of the team look like they couldn't wait to get into the showers reminded me so much of sitting in the Upper Loft watching vauxhall motors beat us on penalties. TF is a smart businessman, and I wonder now if he'll be accepting relegation and seeing if he can ship out as many of the big wage earners and make do until the drop with some of the youngsters and loanees? Surely if we take this wage bill down to the championship with us, we'll be stuffed? |

Can see weather, refs and nerves being a huge factor. No way on earth is this gonna be anything other than about 5 goals and loads of controversy.. let's hope MH has basically told the lads "whatever happens, DON'T rise to the bait, and if anyone so much as touches you, fall over like you've been shot".
