It’s a funny old world sometimes. I have been thinking of starting this conversation for probably a couple of years now but never got around to it.
Finally a couple of days ago, I emailed Lee Hoos to suggest exactly the OP’s suggestion, that we don’t have any goal music. And now I come on here and see the conversation has been started the very same day.
Anyway, I think it is naff and pretty embarrassing. Not pig bag itself, but any goal music. There is no opportunity for us to celebrate a goal naturally, spontaneously. I have barely reached the S’s of my ‘YESSSSSSS’ and the goal music is being blasted at us. I am sure we will start singing it when we are ready, but let us have that ten seconds of pure joy and emotion first.
Imagine if Furlong’s winner against Oldham had been immediately greeted with goal music, trying to drown out that roar.
Lee Hoos was quick and thoughtful in his reply to my email. He suggested I come on to the forums to see what people think.

This one. I am amazed this doesn’t get talked about more. The skill and finish by Routledge was incredible. But that assist is the greatest assist I have ever seen. |

I think it just doesn’t say the percentage if it was lower than 2%. But only the squares for Rangers finishing 1st or 2nd are not coloured in at all. |

If I am not mistaken, we didn’t finish in the top two at all in any of the 10,000 simulations. They are the only two squares that are blank in the whole grid, so every other team finished in every position at least once in the simulations.
What I am getting at is that Opta actually does think it is a dead cert that we won’t get automatic promotion. So no matter how long the odds are being offered by the bookies, there is your value bet. 🤓 [Post edited 1 Aug 2023 7:05]

Being ‘available’ and actually getting an appearance aren’t the same thing though are they. Those stats don’t tell you how many times he was fit but just didn’t get picked or was an unused sub. I think we might all agree he wasn’t the most gifted player so it wasn’t like he always played if fit. |

I always thought Danny Shittu was really fast. There were a few times when a striker went clean through and the opposing fans would get very excited. But I would just sit all calm and serene, safe in the knowledge that Danny would catch up. Unfortunately that wasn’t true at the Millennium stadium though. |

I know 11 is a prime number. A prime number is a number that can be divided by two integers.
I don't know how you think that helps with your plan to get the right proportion of each race on the pitch. 3.4% of the UK population is black. So would it be better to have a team of ten and have 34% of one player be black? Or a team of eleven and 37.4% of one player be black?
Oh hang on. We could field a team of 500 and have 17 black players. That's all making sense now. |

That's funny how we experience things differently. I too was stood in line with that shot by Kiwomya and remember knowing from the moment he hit it that it was going wide. |

So I've just been pondering the subject of goal music at Loftus Road. I've always thought it was needless and naff, but I was wondering if there is anyone who actually is in favour of it? I'm sure most of us are fans of pigbag, (but I'm not trying to debate that), but do we actually need it blared out every time a goal is scored to dictate to us how we should celebrate? If we score away from home and pigbag suits the mood, then we manage just fine on our own without a PA system pumping it out. Why can't we decide on and make the atmosphere at HQ?
I'd be interested to see if anyone likes it. But I suspect almost all of us think it's dumb. And if my suspicions are correct, surely we can do something about it? Ie. a bunch of us write to club, or bring it up at the next appropriate meeting with the club. I appreciate it's not as important as the water pressure in the ladies pissers though. |
