Was it a third replay for us against Forest in 1978? Epic stuff to a very young fan. 40,000 at the City Ground when Stan scored, apparently. A real shame but a sign of the times. No surprise at all. |

Tbf Rotherham Home too? That, technically, was a six-pointer then. |

That's right - wasn't it called 'Concerto for Stan Bowles' IIRC and it was predominantly a saxophone solo? Only heard it once - as said, it came out around the time of the 4-1 over Spurs in 92. |

Can only add to the memories already on here. The 4-1 at Old Trafford (Wegerle? should have made it 5-1) has been mentioned plus a superb 4-0 against Man City in the same season - Andy Impey in his pomp - a few days before the 4-1 over eventual champions Leeds. I remember a 2-1 win against Spurs right at the end of 94-95 when Les got 2 in a raucous atmosphere at LR (a couple of Spurs fans got in the Lower Loft IIRC and it all got a bit nasty for a while?). It was Ray v Gerry in the dugouts as GF was managing Spurs then. Think we were London's top side that season (as well as in 92-93 obvs). A real sweet (early 90s) n' sour (late 90s) decade if ever there was one. |

Yep, really good read. Gotta say, the description of the 3-3 Bristol City League Cup tie ('QPR supporters still savour that dramatic cup tie until this day...he played a key role during a momentous evening in the club’s recent history') maybe a tad overegging the pudding (?), but a very good article nonetheless. |

It was those pesky Romans (who did nothing for us), wasn't it? Or those Greeks? Or the Egyptians? Dunno. |

I just assumed it was our new CEO 'getting out there' with the fans. |

Blimey...er..they won (well) - they're going to Hampden? Very strange. |

Yes - I was thinking today about that tragic emotive day against Southampton in 2007 when we lost 0-3. Very hard to call tonight again on a unique occasion with emotions high. But I think West Brom are a very strong team; the best of the rest. I can see them edging it 2-1. |

Absolutely...Rodnee, the Morgan twins, Mike Keen, the whole team was famed throughout the Roman Empire at the time - from Hadrian's Wall to Byzantium. Joking aside, great thread as always. Would have loved to have been there. A major trophy. |
| Forum Reply | Will 50 points mean safety? Prediction competition at 14:52 3 Mar 2024
I always think Peterborough in 2013 - 54 points and relegated- shudder... And the way everyone is winning its not impossible that it could be this again. As already outlined, the Championship survival line is usually in the 47-52pts zone. So I'll say 52pts to survive this season. And the pessimist in me still insists that, despite yesterday, we are sadly very unlikely to. Has a team historically spent so much time (5 months+?) in the bottom 3 and then gone on to stay up? Very rare, which only serves to show what a remarkable achievement avoiding relegation would still be for us. [Post edited 3 Mar 14:53]
