BBC reporting that Leighton James has died aged 71.Although he wasn’t with us for long,he certainly did his bit to steady a sinking ship in 1977-78.
RIP Leighton,condolences to his family and friends. |

Congratulations mate.The best thing about having grandchildren is that you get all the joy and none of the stress.I only have six and I think that is enough birthdays to remember.

It’s only about 40 mins from Shepherd’s Bush Market or Wood Lane to King’s Cross on the Hammersmith & city or central lines.We did the same journey for the Sheffield Wednesday game.

First game in 1970 and I stood in the paddock for a few games before moving to the front of the loft.Mid 70’s I was up by the old tea hut where Q block now is.Late 70’s to now was spent back in the middle of the loft.
I have been in Ellerslie and South Africa rd,but I’ve never been in the school end. |

It is me that used to walk from Oxford Circus to the ground,and we never lost many while I was doing it.But unfortunately the Guinness in the white horse has won the race instead.
I booked my trains 2 months ago thinking that it was going to be a 3pm ko,which means I get to Liverpool St at 11.43 and I was planning on walking from there instead because if I get in the pub by 12.30 I’ll sleep through the Preston game and Peter Kay at the O2 as well.
And I don’t remember us ever losing over the 5-6 times I’ve done the 7 miles from there.I guess I’d better get my walking boots on. |

I’m not disputing that club’s cheating has cost other teams a chance of trophies,but Man City were charged by uefa a few years ago weren’t they?How can Madrid continually buy superstar players and get away with it?
Football is bent and broken at the top level and they might as well scrap it,or allow a free for all,and let the richest scoop all the trophies. |

I’m glad about that as it will be a mad dash to get from hq to the O2 by 8pm to see Peter Kay.Hopefully we’ll be 3 or 4 nil up by 7pm so I can miss the high ho silver lining rendition at 7.15. |

I doubt if many of their fans will be paying £37 for their seats in the same way that our fans don’t pay the same prices as Leeds fans will next Friday. |

I was confusing the preston and leeds games with the lower loft tickets,so I made a mistake on that one,but it doesn’t alter the fact that we’re a long way short of selling out for both games.
I think that if it was a vital game for us to get into the playoffs rather than avoiding getting relegated,it would be a lot closer to a sell out than what it is now,but both games would be just as important to the club’s future. |
