Come on lads. Get the job done 20:18 - Apr 24 with 3788 viewsR17ALE

Now is the time for this group of players to exorcise the ghosts of disappointment that have pissed off so many of us.

These are the first set of players since 1962 to realistically be one match away from lifting the club’s first piece of proper silverware.

Statistics say that by the next time such a chance comes, these current players will be either in their late 80’s or be dead and buried.

But if they believe and deliver tomorrow, they will never ever be forgotten. In fifty year’s time, future fans will rattle off names like Gilmour and East. Pictures of this team will live on at Spotland forever. And they will be in our hearts forever.

Come on lads, get the job done!

Poll: Who do you think bury should appoint as their next manager?

Yes, "exorcise" is exactly right, on many levels

A lifetime of support, the Bottomley regime, too many instances of falling short and having opposition fans celebrating, the back end of last season...

Apart from being at home I was trying to think of any other advantage that hasn't been mentioned anywhere.
Then realised that despite last seasons disappointment for both sides in playoffs, Maynard did not experience it.
Could that help Jim? I've no idea.
Let's hope it gives an extra edge to the blade that slices through the never having won a trophy label.

YOU do not have the right to give someone else permission to tell me what I can and can't do.

The York team have all been together overnight in Rochdale with a team building dinner last night. Many are enjoying a full English this morning - although the core team have been called into a private dining area for pasta and chicken. They all seem to be predicting a 2 nil win for them.

Hopefully the chef is a Dale fan.

A bit pedantic but in 1962 we were two games from lifting the silverware…after losing the first one 3-0 at home we were a million miles from getting our hands on the silverware.

Today its win and we are in.

Those "ghosts of disappointment" now well and truly exorcised, after one final haunting

As far as i'm concerned, they're now gone forever:

Wembley winners
Lifting a trophy up in the Royal Box
Glory in the national spotlight

Today, a new dawn and we're alive and.kicking

And from now on, added time will be officially known as ‘Mani Time’.
