Well the majority of the team from last season are going to have a early opportunity to put down a marker and claim the shirt, we have plenty of players missing through injury but still enough available to put out what should look like a experienced and competitive team. Listening to the manager it sounds like he's thrown down the gauntlet and challenged them to reproduce the winning mentality from last season. Hopefully the potential new signing from Wigan is better than we already have in the building, that should be the plan with every signing. Scott Hogan is also training at Wigan as a trialist, he could have done a job for us. [Post edited 13 Aug 17:59]

With Pettit out for three months we cannot start the season with just East, Gilmour and Francis. The position is just too attritional in terms of injury, suspension and sheer physical exertion. We are also crying out for someone with more physical attributes to compliment what we have.

I will be honest, I know now't about Adeeko, but reading wikipedia, he has played in 80 league 1 games for Wigan and 9 times for Rep of Ireland U-21, so on paper he looks a good signing, he seems to have fallen out of favour at Wigan for whatever reason.
I would also consider signing Scott Hogan, he may be 34, but he has the experience.

Even Mo Eisa, I believe he may have been at MK with Watson too. I saw his name on the PFA training list, he’s been abroad by the looks off it, hes also 32 so could be a good experienced back up.
Side note, Wigan currently have Hogan on trail as per there forum [Post edited 13 Aug 20:44]

Speaking to an Oldham supporting friend of mine, he says that Adeeko was with them for a little while this pre-season, but he went back to Wigan and they signed a different Wigan midfielder, Payne. Seems to think they were looking for a different profile of midfielder than Adeeko. | | | |
