Sound like reasonable objections to me, and ones which should be able to be resolved by the planners. As is pointed out in the objection, if funds are being sought from bodies then they have to fulfil the criteria the bodies set out. Things like showers being in cubicles rather than open plan seem an oversight that can easily be sorted out. |  | | |

Sport England is assuming that the current pitches on Bowlee are actually useable when, in fact the area is often waterlogged and unusable, a problem which the proposal will overcome with a soak-away (pond) so in fact, there should be more community use at Bowlee simply because the grass pitches will not be waterlogged for months of every year.
That Sport England has been previously disinterested in the quality of the existing pitches speaks volumes ... they were totally disinterested when the pitches in Springfield park were closed...you begin to wonder if Sport England actually has any real interest in grass- roots sport at all, despite boasting that it gets up to £350m a year from the Lottery and Government...They do however seem keen on walking and cycling, and a host of mulicultural ventures .. indeed Sport England's idea of "Sport" seems to encompass a very wide range of a "activities" which do not actually need pitches or specialist equipment which are fit for purpose, or involve any notion of competition. Another expensive quango that noone actually needs......

I pass this facility almost every day at different times. It appears to be mowed on a regular basis but I never see any sport activities taking place, other than children football training in small groups. Never seen a full blown football match on there, possibly because of the drainage issues.
What I do see is people practicing golf shots and the biggest participant's are dog walkers....lots of them. Does the planning allow an area for dog walking? as I see this as a stumbling block. | | | |

Seem to remember that objections to Denehurst Park being converted for training pitches years ago & it’s ultimate failure was partly due to the “taking my dog for a Tom tit” lobby…. Oh and also the value of my house lobby which Norman Smith et al were only too happy to jump on the back of…
Fast forward 30 odd years & if a national house building/supermarket chain were to sniff around the Bowlee site then no doubt it would be rushed through the planning process quicker than a Saturday night vindaloo!!
Meanwhile, one of the largest industrial sites north of Mcr (TBA) remains derelict. |  | | |
