Waiting with baited breath for a racist comment.

Also could it be that Hancock has waited nearly 2 weeks to lock them down after being told of a spike and has given neither councils details that will assist them in locking down again?

It is because certain sections have ignored the guidelines and not changed their hygiene habits, along with gathering in numbers when not suitable to do so.

The area's affected correlate in this instance..

It is pathetic that many people including some on this board seem to think it is racist to point out that both cities have a large immigrant population (India and Pakistan respectively) and that this is probably a contributory cause, though whether that is economic, social, cultural or sociological or a mix of several reasons could be dicussed productively but for this useless enforced censorship. But everybody is so terrified to discuss problems openly and objectively that we have to shuffle our feet and mumble some inane platitudes. There is probable causation and it will benefit everyone, not least the residents of those two cities - to understand what the problem is. There - is this racist enough for you?

I’m not sure it’s a race issue. What is the issue here is that the areas mentioned have a large amount of what most Brits would describe as squats or doss houses. East London had the most covid and is full of places whether Asians or Eastern European’s piles high in terraced housing. Many people can’t even afford a bit of floor in a house but live in sheds. They don’t have proper sanitation or cooking facilities. That is a recipe for infection to spread everywhere. If you throw in language and cultural barriers it makes things even worse.

So is it racist now to state the obvious correlation between

Leicester
Bradford
Rotherham
Barnsley
Bedfordshire

Currently being the 5 most infected areas in the UK?

Have you looked at the Leicester data? It suggests that BAME isn’t a factor as the outbreak there shows roughly the same percentages as the population, i.e. c.50% of cases being white British and other ethnic minorities making up the rest. It’s much likely the areas mentioned are just poor and have lower health outcomes. One reason being housing and another where people shop.

If this is true then Portsmouth should be up there? The most densely populated working class city in the country as the locals like to proudly claim on tv?

It might be coincidence but there are far poorer areas in the country than those listed, however there are not many areas in the country with a higher Indian/Pakistan population.

Whilst the demographic of those infected might be similar to population breakdown, all outbreaks will come from a source.

Of course Soppy and Ian will come along now and call me racist for pointing out a very clear correlation in the demographic of the top 5 infected areas in the country.

I can do better than that Boris...

Bedford, Leicester, Rotherham, Barnsley, Bradford...

All on or very close to the M1...

...and the route taken by Dominic Cummings on his infamous trip north.

When the true story of this pandemic is told, the hapless Cummings will be surely be revealed as the super-spreader responsible for these mini outbreaks.

Wetherby, Ripon, Darlington watch out...

No Boris. While you're recycling your overnight nappies, you will find me taking in the sunrise in the bracing waters of Lyme Bay, thinking about world peace and cultural diversity.
