Yeah. Let's sign him from Liverpool for £20M... watch him score week in - week out... and then sell him for £2M less than we bought him for.

If Ings is worth £18M - then I'm Vivian Blush's boyfriend!

The problem is Danny Ings is 29 in the summer, if someone buys him there is no sell on value.

Same as Jamie Vardy he is 34, if he was 26 then he would be worth £50 million, that is the problem Leicester have, they have no sell on value for Vardy so can't afford to replace him, they have to find the next big thing as we do.

On one of the info bars on Sky Sports News tonight, it reads.....

Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhutl remains confident Danny Ings will sign new contract
Hassenhutl: "We want him to stay here and he's shown signals that he wants to stay with us"

Sounds slightly more positive, but could well be the same old shit we've all heard a lot of recently.

That's the chance football clubs take when they sign a big player. It's all about the here & now. You can spunk money on a big gamble like Timo Werner... or buy yourself proven PL quality!

Let's say Ingsy gets his wish & goes to Spurs or Man United even. One or both of those may well not make it into the CL this season. A failing Chelsea is another example. If any one of those 3 were to buy Ings - and his goals helped get them to a top 4 finish - the initial outlay will look like peanuts. He scores goals & he's proven top quality. If he goes on to score through the CL rounds next season - he'll look even more of a bargain at a cost of what?.. £30M? £35M?

This season is very interesting at the top of the Premier League. No one is running away with it (for once) & any one of several teams could win it. All the CL places are up for grabs. If I was an owner or a fan of one of the 'big' clubs - I'd be delighted to acquire the services of a ready made, proven PL striker... at a bargain price & someone who's got at least 2 more good seasons left in him yet!

The problem we have, is that Ings has to be "managed" for the rest of the season. Will he give his all and will he want to risk getting injured if he knows he is leaving in the summer? He either needs to sign up, or he might as well leave ASAP. Otherwise we have a player who knows he is off. Hojbjerg announced his departure before the end of the season and Ralph hardly played him. His head was elsewhere. Likewise, when VD decided he wanted to leave, that was it, there was no point keeping him here.

Danny Ings is our season. Ignore the media. The main thing is his availability for our Arsenal games. If he gets us another trophy or European qualification, I, for one, and many other Saints' fans will, understandably, be very happy. Just ignore Nick's clickbait. It's just what he's paid for. On the plus side, we no longer have a dodgy used car salesman, Les Reed, telling us that we have to sell him because he is evil incarnate.
