Pritti Patel, House Parties, £800 fines and Ignorance Influencial People 18:56 - Jan 21 with 2625 viewsBerber

So, Patel (and I am definitely NOT a fan), announces £800 on the spot fines for people attending house parties of 15 or more. She is immediately challenged by the media and the public saying that this just suggests that it is OK to do the same with 14 or less.

The stupid woman did not respond that it remains illegal to meet with more than one person with an on the spot fine of up to £200. Neither did the Shadow Home Sec when asked on LBC if he supported the move (he did). None of the media chumps at the press conference acknowledged this although the BBC has it on its webpage report. meantime usual suspects are up in arms about it (not on here though, where a better class of poster dwells).

Labour run wales. There is your peek on how equally bad it would have been with Labour in power.

Tories have done badly. So have Labour (and the SNP).

But not Starmer. He's not been in charge of anything.

That’s staggering that isn’t it? At what way did any of those guests think that this was acceptable. Fine every single one of them.

Closer to home, I’ve just done a shop for someone in Sholing (I’m volunteering shopping for those isolating). There is definitely a big increase in police in the area.

that is right, he has absolutely nothing. Nothing to do with Labour-run Wales.
He can exert zero influence with Welsh Labour, which is part of, errr, Labour.

I love all this stuff about Starmer and Covid. He's not been in charge, so it's all pretty academic.

And as the UK pretty much tops the league in how bad this thing has been handled, its absolutely fair enough to conclude that Boris and his mates messed this up (at least early days).

As for dishing out public money. It would be bad enough if it had been spent well. The fact is that a lot of it has been handed over to useless Tory hangers on.

"Boris and his mates messed this up"

Brilliant

The 5th biggest economy in the world run by ...... Boris and his mates.

Who are these mates , do they go paint balling together or play dungeons and dragons very Thursday night ?

Boris has ordered heavy snow over night. We will be house bound in the morning. You will be forced to stay at home. Starmer suggested this a few weeks ago.

If Johnson had ordered heavy snow last night he would have paid over the odds for it from a Tory donating CEO of a company with no experience with snow. We would have woken up this morning with some sleet over the North Sea, a flood in northern England and heavy winds in Southern England. A cabinet spokesman would have been rustled up for a TV interview in which we would be told that this was a new variant of snow and that we had a world beating track or trace system that could tell us where the snowflakes were. Currently they were in 10 Downing Street in a cabinet meeting.

So yesterday Johnson appears on our TVs and tells us that the “new variant” has a higher mortality rate. Today actual scientist are saying that isn’t necessarily the case. Little wonder more and more people are realising that the bloke they put their trust in during the last election is a clueless berk.

I think he said "may" have a 30% higher rate of mortality, which is what scientific advisors have told him. The main reservations with most scientists were that he went public too soon. Some studies show 0% , some show 100% and some show numbers in between. It seem likely that there is some level of higher risk.

Thing is if he wasn’t sure, why call a presser and release the news? Was it just scare mongering to try and keep people at home because the lockdown isn’t working as well as the first one?
It’s beginning to look like changing the second dose from 3 weeks to 12 weeks could have resulted in more unnecessary deaths too.

I am all for people sticking to the lockdown instructions. You might have noticed that I am against us being fed falsehoods and scaremongering. You only have to watch the news every night to see what damage the virus is doing. How many more people need to die in distressing circumstances does it take for the message to get through?

The press conf. was about more than the possible 30% though. I think you may be right about using it as a virtual stick though.
