Andre Gray inbound 11:18 - Aug 30 with 44428 views | James_Paddocks | Having a medical this morning, according to the wonderful world of QPR Twitter... Watford fans seem delighted to see the back of him. I'll trust Warbs, Les and Lee though. [Post edited 30 Aug 2021 11:54]

Andre Gray inbound on 11:22 - Aug 30 with 10742 views | HAYESBOY | Think we need another striker. He fits what we are missing, which is pace and playing on the shoulder of the centre halves. Austin is a poacher around the area and Dykes is the battering ram, target man striker. I would be ok with this if it fits our budget. With Field and Amos to come back our squad looks strong.

Andre Gray inbound on 11:28 - Aug 30 with 10681 views | Antti_Heinola | We don't 'need' another anything. We haven't lost a game yet and we've scored 11 goals in 5 league games. A pacy striker would be a 'nice to have' but I really, really worry about this one. We have fantastic harmony in this squad and I heard at the weekend that even at Brentford he was one who established cliques and so forth. Hopefully Warbs is strong enough to stop any of that nonsense, and we have the senior pros to stamp it out, but would much rather have had a younger striker with something to prove.

I just hope he isn’t a bit too big for his boots, with his girlfriend/ social media stuff and it disrupts the dressing room. Is a decent player in there, but probably lacking confidence on the pitch and Watford want rid as he isn’t premier league quality and is on big money. Just glad it’s not Troy Deeney

Feel the same Antii. When you saw Stefan and Charlie dragging Seny into coming round to take the applause of the fans and clowning around with him as they did so, it reinforced that "Band of Brothers" feeling about the squad we've got right now Am hoping that having managed him at Brentford, Warbs knows him well enough to get him to buy into it and get his career back on track because I do think the one thing we're missing is a pacy striker to beat the high press of teams like Barnsley and Coventry.
Andre Gray inbound on 11:40 - Aug 30 with 10548 views | DavieQPR | I just worry about a striker that doesn't score. In his last 113 games he has 19 goals. Long time since he was in double figures. But like most I've got to trust MW. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Andre Gray inbound on 11:46 - Aug 30 with 10491 views | s1cRanger | Seen that Brentford want to send Joel Valencia out on loan. Can't we get him instead as a rapid forward player. Ok maybe not a striker but scored a load in the Championship and proven at this level
Andre Gray inbound on 11:46 - Aug 30 with 10490 views | BuzsakyIsGod | My best mate is a Watford fan, so over the years I've been to the vic when he had a spare ticket. Saw andre play quite a bit. Very poor player. Loses the ball lots and quite frankly was useless up front. It was so bad the Watford fans around me were laughing at him. I'm not hoping for much.
Andre Gray inbound on 11:47 - Aug 30 with 10469 views | Jigsore | Been a poor player for years and hardly a nice bloke to boot. this would be a very stupid signing

You might be thinking of someone else, Valencia scored once in the Championship.

More worrying is that his career on the pitch has passed him by.

My biggest takeaway from that is that in the Guardian article, Joey Barton provides a character testament. So now I'm not sure about him at all

those tweets always stuck out for me because while we've seen footballers charged with historic offences from social media in the past they're usually from when they were teenagers, 16 or 17, saying stupid childish things that teenagers often do - especially to their friends. i also accept and understand why they're punished for them even if it seems unfortunate to get a ban over a 10 year old tweet you fired off when you were in school Andre Gray's offence on the other hand... the guy was 20 and posted something particularly nasty. something I don't think you would post unless you genuinely meant it. I don't like him, and I don't want him here

Andre Gray inbound on 12:15 - Aug 30 with 10168 views | CiderwithRsie | Rumour (e.g. https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/kane-in-line-for-coventry-move-as-qpr-look-t ) seems to be that we would only sign him if we could off-load Kane, so might be worth watching if that comes off. Warburton did say that he only expected to sign more players if someone left, so maybe that is a one-bellend-out, one-bellend-in thing. Kinda clinging to hope that it's just a loan and some sort of insurance policy re Charlie and Lyndon. Also that Charlie, Jordi, Wallace and Stef etc. will stamp hard on any f*ckwittery.

Good to see in the first article that none other than the great Joey Barton sticking up for him; "He should be held up as an example of kids from troubled backgrounds". Surprised he didn't put his own name forward for that accolade. TBH, I do think there's a problem in this country with digging out historic tweets, happened in the cricket recently, and using it as evidence of somebody's poor character. I didn't like the tweets but I did see a heartfelt apology from somebody saying they were no longer "that person" and didn't hold those views. I do think people, espeically young lads from tough backgrounds, are more likely to fall into this trap of posting offensive stuff, not realising the impact it will have but I for one can forgive and will judge them on how they act with us. It's on the Football side I have most concerns. Can you keep Austin, Dykes and Gray happy? Especially if we go more often than not with the 1 striker with Chair and Willock behind? I do think his pace and willingness to run in behind will add something to the Team though. As has been said, opposition teams will think twice about holding a really high line against us as we’ll now have some legs running on the shoulder which could help us negotiate the “Barnsley approach” when we get swamped and struggle to play our football. It’s an interesting one, I will wait and see before passing judgement both in terms of his character and also the quality of the Footballer. I do have reservations but I think he brings useful qualities (that we don't have) to the table and which may be what we need. Time will tell. Neither for or against.

Warburton will have made it crystal clear what he expects from Gray if he is joining us. This squad is a world away from the ones that infested the club from 2011-2015 and I think this might prove to be a good signing IF Gray is coming here to prove himself. Then again, I thought John Curtis and Stefan Moore were good signings.
