Boris and the "Party" Party 13:47 - Jan 13 with 12418 viewsBerber

Like him or loathe him, they have called the Omicron wave far better than Duffer Drakeford, The Wild Witch and Sleepy (Yawn) Starmer. The benefits of this far outweigh the negatives of the lockdown breaches (but no doubt the kiddies will cling on to the "Miss, he did this to me" approach). Both Norway and Netherlands have reported that low single digit percentages of people in CC have Omicron. Milder complications and shorter hospital stays.

Don't expect the NHS to be waving this particular flag, but I bet Boris will be on it pretty soon and like magic, the party allegations will shrink into the background.

And I'm not even a Boris supporter.

You really have to question why the Met decides to open an investigation today.

1) They have known about these events for a long time - probably since they actually happened - and did nothing;
2) This will delay Sue Grey's report!

They should either have investigated earlier (maybe even acted at the time) or waited a couple of days until after Sue Grey reports back. I think it stinks and is related to the inept, and possibly corrupt, leadership at the top of the Met. Like Boris, Cressida Dick should have resigned ages ago but clings on to her position despite the many failings that have occurred under her watch.

Sue Gray probably knew that her boss, Boris, would redact all of the incriminating sections of her report before it was made public, which, as the final arbiter of the report, he could do. But, by putting the uncensored report in the hands of the police, it will make it much more difficult, if not impossible, for Boris to hide the sections incriminating him.

Good point Dirk - hadn't thought of that!

Having said recently that he would take full responsibility if there was found to be any wrong doing at any of these parties (that didn’t take place) the word from no.10 is that he feels that he, himself, didn’t break any rules. Watch the responsibility now magically move from him (the guy who set the rules and spent plenty of time explaining them to us via the national media) to the underlings who are now going to be made scapegoats to try and keep him in his job. So why didn’t he, as head honcho, put a stop to these gatherings and why did he actually attend some of them? They clearly happened. Rules were clearly broken. It all happened on his watch, sometimes in his presence. What part of this does he not understand is reason for him to resign?

The report will fail to pin the blame squarely upon Boris and instead say that the culture in Downing St was to blame with a smidgen of personal responsibility upon the civil servant cadre and not the politicians. This allows Boris to say that he was right all along.

The police investigation will say something similar but be months away and by the time it appears the heat will have gone. It will however allow the spineless wonders in the Tory Party to further deflect the findings of the Gray report and water them down.

He is a slippery s0d and these reports will not be enough.

In the unlikely event that they are more excoriating then he will point to Brexit and vaccine campaigns as "bigger" achievements than petty transgressions of "guidance".

Starmer was a prosecution lawyer and his attempts to pin Boris down on these issues is woeful.

I disagree. Starmer can’t do any more than he has done. He has forensically dismantled Johnson at every opportunity but the bloke is made of Teflon and it is hard to pin something on someone when they have supporters who aren’t interested in hearing anything bad about dear old cuddly Boris. He still has support in Parliament from the new MPs who feel they owe their job to him. Many still think he is a hero for “getting Brexit done” but more and more people have seen him for what he is now and his support is shrinking. Starmer has played his part by being the grown up in the room.

He has a very strong (if temporary) lead in the polls, he can call for an election, but only Rayner has done so at present. He is a feeble leader.

Indeed. Starmer is a wet fart and definitely NOT a politician.

Yet another PMQ's today when he had an opportunity to ask real questions about real issues... but once again wasted them all on No.10 parties, No.10 parties, No.10 parties...

You might be bored with it, but his behaviour needs to be addressed. It turns out now that he lied about putting the lives of some dogs before those who worked alongside us in Afghanistan. It is just not acceptable that the Prime Minister of this country lies on a daily basis. He is making a mockery of this country. Starmer is showing him up as the mini me Trump he is. The sooner he goes the better. Perhaps then we get can work on getting the respect of the rest of the world back.

Had a little listen to PMQ's this afternoon...Starmer was as effective as a covid vaccine in stopping the spread of the Boris virus..Boris had the benches cheering and his retort to (Ian way out of his depth Blackford) was hilarious...Starmer offers fuk all..Boris once again made him look fukin pitiful....

And that fellow uglies shows how fuked up British politics is...Johnson should be gone by now for his complete disregard of his own government's rules around covid-19...but he just bowls on unchallenged...FACT.

Johnson is getting away with it so far because he has a massive majority. That is the reason. Do you think for one minute the fools sitting behind him are supporting him because they think he is right?
We can’t even trust this buffoon to deal with clear rule breaking in his own back yard so how are we supposed to feel confident about him dealing with Putin and the Ukraine? Strange that some feel the need to try and make it about the opposition. This has nothing to do with Starmer and everything to do with how this country has become immune to lies, deceit and incompetence. Still, at least we got it back (and at what price?).

What is an embarrassment is having Boris as Prime Minister.
What do you expect Starmer to do?
He wants answers to the charge that there was so many parties going on while the county was abiding by his rules.
All we get is wait till Sue Gray reports back to me about I have done.
Disrespecting Blackford makes him look very silly.
The SNP like it or not have been voted for by the Scottish people so should be respected.
Boris will break up the Union I have no doubt if he stays in office.

An opposition leader of substance would have seen this idiot dispatched a long time ago..Starmer is inept and flaccid....majority rule or not..he's done enough to be ejected by someone with some gumption..Starmer isn't that person.

That majority would evaporate with a concerted effort by a viable opposition leader making those red wall tories feel abandoned and betrayed by his empty promises and disregard of the very rules he set in place . Starmer doesn't possess the wherewithal to make that happen.. Boris is a dead man walking. A decent opposition leader would of buried him before now.
