The pandemic and the Russian invasion are relatively recent.
And the reason the Country now finds itself in a really difficult place trying to deal with the consequences is (at least) seven years of failed economic policies which have not got this country moving, together with at best the sideshow and at worst the self-harm of Brexit.
We’re past the point when anyone thinks Brexit has actually improved things economically for the
UK. Now the question is how the f*** we are going to get through the current crises with now one hand tied behind our backs in terms of our trading position.

Funnily enough, the media completely ignores inflation and economic problems in the rest of Europe. Nearly every single international economic forecasting body has consistently been more pessimistic about the UK economy since Brexit, yet never acknowledge their errors, nor revise the better performances in their new forecasts. Hardly surprising that remoaners latch on to them.

Agreed the economic policies could have been better, but we came from a very low base after the financial meltdown in 2008 exacerbated by Blair/Brown spending and encouraging everyone to go on credit...and 'max out on their credit cards'.
As for Brexit, as a remainer you'll never agree, but we're able to govern our country in the way we think best without restrictions from the EU ..AND we've got a free trade agreement. I know an export manager with a medium sized company that sends 40 lorries a week to the EU, after a tricky start, he has no hold ups or problems exporting and they are actually increasing their production to the EU. | | | |

I’m glad it is working for your friend, but there are countless stories of other small businesses either suffering badly or actually folding because of Brexit? Has Rees-Mogg actually come up with anything yet? Isn’t he supposed to be telling us about all of the new found benefits? To be fair king-fraud Rees-Mogg was able to identify the other day that the ‚exit this way‘ signs in The Blackwell Tunnel can now be changed to round numbers of yards rather than having to match them exactly to metres, and that’s going to helpful to all those trying to escape from the Blackwall Tunnel who don’t understand decimals, and apparently it was already possible to write them in round numbers of yards under the terms of EU directive anyway, but that’s really not the point when you’re trying to show how ridiculous the EU is, because Rees-Mogg isn’t ridiculous at all. | |

The whole system needs a f@cking overhaul here and in America and probably Europe. Do we have democracy? Just look at America, where a supreme court (somebody please tell me who they are and who voted for them) saying that abortion should be banned. Has there been a referendum in each of those states? Has there f@ck. The f@cking leader of the world, who was voted in, disagrees with the ruling and is fighting it. So where is democracy? The people vote for a party or leader, and the f@cking courts overrule anyway. From what I've seen, the majority of this country, support sending immigrants to Rwanda, and once again an unelected court overrules. So what's the point of voting anyone? Brexit hasn't allowed us to make our own rules. The courts decide anyway. The Tories, have out taxes up, and lied, what would Labour do, put taxes down? What the f@ck are we voting for? | |
