Loads of tickets left for Stoke and Leicester away 19:47 - Jan 28 with 3212 viewsSouthamptonfan

Now that we don't have hordes of fans desperate for a Pompey ticket, I think we will see vastly decreased demand now for tickets, especially if we stay mid table. If we don't make a fight for 6th place with consecutive wins, we will see the boring side of being in the championship now, with absolutely nothing to get excited about and dwindling crowds.

We’ve sold 2,100 for Stoke, pretty good imo for a 12.30 kick off with game live on TV, and Leicester tickets only went on sale Monday and had sold around 650 already by last night also not bad

away support may fall a bit, but remember we sold out pretty much every game away last season despite us being sh*t

2100 is very good for a 12:30pm kick off on TV, if that is the case I agree. But it will start to really decrease if Saints are mid table and now that the Pompey is out of the way.

I don’t suspect that Sports Republic will worry too much about dwindling away support, doesn’t all the money go to the home club in any event ?

Although Leicester sales still not great, we’ve already sold over 1,800 for Sheff Weds and they only went on sale this morning so sales for away games generally standing up well

Leicester away looks like our worst away following for a long time. Not sure if M1 block was ever put on sale, but the other blocks have green dots everywhere. About 400 tickets sold, if that by the looks of it. Stoke didn't sell out, despite taking an excellent following up there, but away games arn't selling out now.

Much easier to get tickets now. Quite a few going to Sheffield Wednesday to make the most of the cheap tickets and likely win, many who were on 1 or 2 away games or less. On general sale now, when games sold out on about 5 aways before Christmas. Away tickets easier to get now Pompey is out of the way.

Leicester at home in the fa cup is even worse, with the Chapel closed, and green dots everywhere even in the Northam.

Actually 850 sold for Leicester, in Blocks M2 and M3 only, not great, but given limited period between date being announced at game not too bad, and comparable with what Leicester brought to us when they had 3 months notice.

Only 36 of the initial 2,400 left for Sheff Weds, which is not yet on sale to those with 1 or 2 aways, with 3 weeks to go before the game.

over 750 sold for West Brom with more than a month to that game despite being only available to those with 9+ aways so far.

But games are on general sale now, when very few of them went to general sale before Christmas, and as I said lots of tickets were left for Stoke and Leicester and tickets have tailed off now the pompey frenzy is out of the way. Before the Pompey game, you couldnt get away tickets, unless you had been to quite a few away games. You can now.

I.know for a fact people were buying tickets,.such as Norwich away in the cup and not even turning up, just to get that Pompey ticket.

Only game currently on general sale Leicester.

Stoke was too, but that was for 12.30 kick off game live on TV, and earlier in the season Blackburn, Sheff Utd. Norwich and Hull all went on general sale but that doesn’t suit your agenda

Considering how we have performed generally away from home, imo our support had been pretty good.

The agenda is that ticket sales have tailed off since the Pompey game. They have. I'm pretty sure Sheffield Utd, Norwich, Hull sold out. Leicester hasn't. Stoke didn't. It's tailed off, and it's because people wanted that Pompey ticket. That's not to say that our support isn't still impressive in most cases.

Attendances have also tailed off in home games too but that's more to do.with league position I would imagine. The Leicester home game looks very empty.

It’s more about quality than quantity to my mind.

The support at Stoke was magnificent, wish I had been there instead of watching at home. My fault.

Would rather we had 1,500 away fans all giving it loads, rather than a sold out end of 3,000 with loads of fans not bothering to give any means of support at all to the team.

I was stood right next to the Watford fans yesterday; 3,000 of them, but I was far more impressed with the 1,000 or so Sheffield United fans who turned up a couple of weeks ago.

Well yeah I agree. So does that show that the hordes of people just buying tickets to qualify for a Pompey ticket, arn't as good as the general loyal fans (less of them) who go to every game regardless? Is that what you mean?

No the facts say several games before Pompey went on general sale, which go against what you stated

Also the sales show that more than double the amount of tickets have been sold than the 400 you stated

I know there were a number, not hoards, who bought tickets for away games purely to get Pompey tickets, but there are still more than 2,000 supporters who go to pretty much every Saturday away game, a bit less for some midweek

I would sugggest away supporters who actual attend games, confirm numbers of loyal fans are way greater than those who bought tickets just for Pompey, but never said either group better than the other like you have, just saying despite everything our away support is still good, and numbers wise better than Pompeys.

For example we took 3k to Derby, Pompey 2k

Ofcourse we take more than Pompey. Goes without saying. But we sold 3k for Derby before the Pompey game, exactly, also.2300 for Hull, 3000 for Sheffield United wasn't it for an evening game? And now the Pompey game is out of the way, we are only taking 800 you say to Leicester? Stoke was still an impressive following, but it didn't sell out, neither has Leicester. Im pretty sure all our games before Christmas sold out, apart from.maybe Blackburn? I bet if we played Norwich away in the cup now, we wouldnt have taken what we took before the Pompey game. I know people who bought a cheap ticket and then didn't go ,all to qualify for Pompey.

All I am saying is that ticket sales for away games have tailed off. If we are only taking 800 to.Leicester, for an evening game but took 3000 to sheffield United for an evening game, and took 3k.for Derby, a similar distance they have tailed off haven't they? Part of the reason is because that Pompey game is now out of the way. Otherwise what is your view on why we are taking so.few to Leicester, didnt sell out Stoke.either, yet we did for Sheffield United and Hull? I am merely saying that sales have tailed off. Are you saying they haven't?

Sheffield United was about 2k out of 2.7k allocation I think.

They've definitely tailed off and the skates game being out the way certainly will have played a part but our poor form in December and most of January is probably just as big a factor if not bigger.

Even before the skates though away tickets have been much easier to get this season than the last couple. Less than half have sold out before reaching all season ticket holders.

Looking at the ticket map for Leicester and it looks considerably less than 850 sold. I'm looking forward to it though.

I think we'll get a good idea of just how many buy for every game regardless of whether they're going or not by what point level Wrexham starts at.

Sheffield United sold out for an evening game, 2700. We took more there, than Stoke on a Saturday and much more there than Leicester which isnt as far and isn't on tv. And I agree it looks less than 800 for Leicester sold, but I am not going to bother counting the grey seats. I couldn't get tickets for QPR away, I couldn't get Oxford tickets, and many members have not been able to get to any away games, apart from.one or two long treks up north. But plenty were available tickets for Leicester, Stoke, and I suspect Sheffield Wednesday will give us the full 3000 and then members will get tickets too. And as you say ticket sales have tailed off but Salisburysaint seems to think this isnt the case. Or I am not sure what he is arguing to be honest. Tickets have tailed off.

Yeah that may say sold out but we definitely didn't sell all 2700 of them, was closer to 2k mark. Not sure why theh ly declared it sold out rather than just taking off sale though, maybe didn't think worth opening another block?

They have tailed off for multiple reasons but as I say I think even before they did games have gone a lot lower than previous seasons.

Even Millwall as our only 3pm KO in London went down to all season ticket holders. Only 8/21 haven't made at least that bracket as well.

Members absolutely have been able to get more than 1 or 2. There was 8 games which reached members before Christmas, 6 in the league.

With out doubt Leicester is going to be our lowest away attendance for a few years.

But it’s not just because the Portsmouth game is out the way. The short notice hast helped but for some reason we never travel that well to Leicester even though it’s a relatively short trip .

The West Brom game is digital tickets only , if this goes well think most of our away games next season could be this. Hopefully then this will stop fans buying tickets then suddenly are unable to make it the very next day and advertising their tickets for sale. These are the fans that were just building up their away credits.

Having looked I’ve noticed that it looks like the club are just counting this seasons away games now.

Re the West Brom game. You have brought up another issue which has been a big issue this season in particular. Lots of away tickets have been appearing online as you say. This was because some fans were buying tickets for every away game, and then trying to sell them as they had no intention of going to that game, just the intention of building up credits for the Pompey game. This has also happened in the past, so that fans could get tickets for the big PL games. The introduction of the West Brom digital tickets is no doubt an attempt to stop this. It has been happening, and this is why many games sold out so quickly before the Pompey game. However, with the Pompey game out of the way, Saints.in 14th and a few other reasons perhaps, demand is.much less.

Where have you seen that we're only counting this seasons games? WBA includes last season and I've still got my points from last season.

Digital tickets won't stop people passing them on I doubt. Only thing which will stop that is a random 10-20% having to collect each match.

The trend seems to have bucked

Already sold out top tier at Sheff Weds, bottom tier now on sale with over 3,100 already sold, 90% of those before Tuesday night

For West Brom over 1k already sold with game a month away

Tuesday Night was definitely a case of Quality over Quantity 💪
Excelent throughout, despite the atrocious 1st half.
I like to think the "what the effin hell was that" ringing in their ears as they left the pitch at the end of the 1st half prompted the improved 2nd half 😂😉
