If you are sold without a transfer request being put in I think you are entitled to 10 % of the fee as it is a transfer against your wishes so to speak
If you have put in a transfer request then you lose that 10 %.
So a player will only put in a transfer request when he really needs to push the club to let him go, if the transfer is a bit acrimonious then the selling club will demand the player puts in the request.
The media reports are a little vague as i said in the article, saying you would like to go is not the same as a transfer request which needs to be in writing.

Strange situation. I know Benfica has it's advantages but I assumed HB would want a move to the PL. Portugal offers European football but a fairly weak domestic league.
Then there's the price. Why on earth do they think we would sell for 20 mill?
Either way Im not bothered. to me he's limited. Some good things and some bad and i don't think he was up to it in the PL. We could replace him. But if we keep him that's fine for this year. |  | | |

In part I get what your saying, but I think he would be a significant loss to us when considering some of the other options.........
For a club in our position, I would think losing him would have a severe impact on where we go from there. | |

I think I'd have put in a transfer request as well, if I had missed that sitter at Watford in the dying minutes !!
Joking aside, if he goes, then whoever buys him will surely have to pay at least £25m and not the derisory 17m Euros offered. We paid £20m for him and he has developed with, has even played (and scored) for England and has a couple of years left on his contract - so surely he is isn't worth less than we paid for him.
Can they take Downs and a couple of 'Keepers off our hands instead ? |  |

He's developed into a good CB since we paid £20m for him, so therefore he's in the £30m bracket now. Lower ranked PL team standard not above. | |
