Totally agree. If United are happy for us to give him game time and help him develop over this season, then they should be happy to pay part of his wages as he is still their player and if he turns into another KWP we will have done them a massive favour. As it stands, barring injuries, he will spend this next season sitting on the bench again. How is that helping him develop as a player? A loan arrangement is a win win, but United wanted to screw us financially too. If they want us to cover the wages, then ditch the loan fee. | | | |

Seems reasonable to me. If he comes for a season £2m is surely less than a quarter of his transfer value on an equivalent 4 year contract, ie he’s worth more than £8m. Think that’s a better more modern way of looking at loans, and considering the duration of the loan representing the proportion of the player’s transfer value. Obviously there’s no resale value, but if we want resale value we shouldn’t be doing loan deals. | |
