As it stands at the moment Saints have six players whose contract end in the summer of 2022, perhaps four of them harbour hopes of staying at St Mary's, but will any of them actually do so, or will they all depart. 14

If a player gets to the last year of his contract then it tends to be the club has already decided not to extend them.

What's more interesting is to see which of the players whose contract's are up in 2023 are renewed this Summer. These are:

Romeu
Redmond
Djenepo
Ely
Theo
Valery

I would say only the 1st two on that list.

It is definitely this year, it was in the press that he was going to sign a new deal back in October, as I said in the article I suspect he is being offered far less than he is on at the moment and that is why no new deal has been signed.

The new owners way of doing business means that he could now be surplus to requirements

1) Ankerson has a track record - booth in the UK & Denmark
2) We are not aiming for the moon but to have a sustainable but successful run as long term members of the Premier League.

Logically it makes sense to me to have some optimism - although this is Saints!

Only Romeu for me, Redmond brings nothing to the team as shown last night at Spurs. When he is not in the team we play better.
