Dusan Tadic Set For More Central Role !
Friday, 5th Aug 2016 12:56

Dusan Tadic could be plaing in a more central position under Claude Puel than he has done in his first two seasons at St Mary's.

Claude Puel has hinted that there might be a new role for Dusan Tadic.

“I think Tadic is interesting in this position because he can turn and go quickly,”

“He can give good passes for the striker. I think it’s a good position for him. He wants to make progress all the time in the games step by step.

“I’m sure that Dusan is going to make a very good season.”

I will be interested to see Tadic in this position, I have always thought that employing him in a number 10 position would be best suited to his talents, he is a clever player and has the ability to pick a pass, also when he is out wide he has to work harder in getting back and covering the full back, something that he is not best suited to doing.

So in my opinion I think playing in a role where he can concentrate on doing what he does best and that is create and score goals has to be of benefit for both Tadic himself and the team.

It is good that Claude Puel has noticed this and intends to use him in this position.

Dusan will also be better-placed in a central position to whine at the ref when he gets kicked by the oppo.

I agree. To me he is a creative ball player. Making him play wide wastes his talents. He's not a winger in a million years and he's also not going to chase back with any real enthusiasm. I''d like to know what the "more central role" is though. Is that the tip of the diamond?

I hope Puel and the players can make the diamond system work, but I can't think of any team that has managed to do so consistently in the past. As far as I'm concerned the fundamental flaw is the"nomansland" in the middle of the formation. If your opponents get players into this area does the back man in the formation move up to cover or does the front man drop back? As far as I'm concerned any formation that relies so heavily on instinct rather than communication is flawed from the start. But then again I've never coached or managed at professional level and too old to start now.

Where does the diamond shape come from when you have just one at the top a true diamond has many facets not just one. I think this shape is just TV talk. A diamond of any quality has over 50 facets not just 1
