I wouldn't turn a bonus down.
I don't expect the players to either. I'm not making that point. It is what it is - I may think the money in football is stupid, but then others may think that money that others get in business or whatever is stupid as well. It's the market.
It's the waste of it in this situation. If they'd been given a cash bonus then so be it. It's the whole nonsense about giving them matching £100k cars for the sake of it. I'm not suggesting that they don't get paid what they get paid - same with bankers, or anyone else. What I do object to is blatant waste for publicity purposes when equal publicity would have been gained by doing something more worthwhile.
