If you vote Labour on 21:58 - May 10 by NeathJack | Indeed they can, as long as they are prepared to rack up a huge amount of debt. |
Yes there will be a lot of debt. However it is debt that is made repayable in a very fair manner. Nine percent of anything you earn over £21,000 annually. It isn't the sort of debt that loses you your house or prevents you from putting food on the table for your family. How many billions would it cost to send every adult to university for free? What would you cut to find that extra money?

That's what they can't seem to comprehend. If you change the system to general taxation that means those that didn't go to Uni will be paying for those that did and if we'll all pay more tax so they'll still pay. It is designed to help those who don't find lucrative employment and those that do benefited. So in conclusion, what is the problem?

Yes because that's just what I said isn't it? Engage your brain next time son, I sure as Hell care about healthcare. I find your post offensive. I talked about Labour's obsession with NHS, at no point did I say healthcare doesn't matter.

So what are you saying then SON? You care about healthcare? Private healthcare or the NHS? Because you seem to be slating labours obsession with the NHS and privitisation And btw I always engage my brain before answering posts I can't help it that you can't see my passion for what hasn't been privatised by the tories I care about not just myself or my family I care about people who can't help themselves It's a weakness that a tory would NEVER understand

I hope she is sacked. | |

If you vote Labour on 07:30 - May 11 with 741 views | perchrockjack | The format of that manifesto looked very much like Socialist Wworker stuf, found at protests from Fracking to Police Brutality. I'm avoiding any more political comment as it clearly leads to nasty and naughty . I mean we have entrenched opinions which ain't gonna change so it's really quite pointers posting further I like Caroline Fflint though

Do you realise how sanctimonious you sound? You believe because someone favours private provision in the health system that they are less moral? Do you realise how utterly pathetic and arrogant that position is. Are France and Germany immoral Countries or societies? The poor in those Countries are able to get free at the point of use care and outcomes are far superior. When I said people like you drive me round the bend, I meant your inflexibility your cultist belief in your own self importance. It's your sort of juvenile pomposity that means labour will never win an election for decades.

It'll be costed, it'd be crazy for it not to be. The crux will be whether you agree with the spending priorities or not.

You mean a party's manifesto commitments are being accused of not making financial sense in the run up to a general election? Well I'm shocked.

It's not the spending priorities, it's the assumptions that are being made about finances that just don't add up in the real world. A tiny example of the problem. Say Virgin give up the franchises they have on the railways. It's not enough to say that the profits will then come back into the public purse, without also calculating the lost franchise fees, and the lost corporation tax on the loss of profits to Virgin as a U.K. Company. You can't only count the upside without the downside. And that's without making any allowance for the accuracy of the asuumption that those parts of the rail network will be as profitable under public ownership as they are under private ownership. Same with VAT on private school fees (which I have no problem with in principle). You can't make an assumption that there will be no effect whatsoever on the numbers of pupils attending private schools even though fees go up overnight by 20%. It's assuming a zero price elasticity which simply doesn't make sense.

Yeah but you don't know any of that because the costing haven't been made available yet. And frankly all manifesto spending commitments are pointless anyway cos at some point the civil service will get its claws into them.
