Well you can mine bitcoins for free. You essentially join up to use processing power in pools and can generate satoshi enough of them when net bitcoins. Though to be fair the pools are so developed now you'd want to invest in and ASIC machine. And even then its so competitive.

Aside from that yeah you can buy in through brokers much like the stock exchange. as far as i understand it, various brokers will have various minimums, and its usually best to shop around.

Problem with mining for bitcoins "for free" is that you use up more money in electricity with your computer on than you get back in bitcoins.

But yes, several places you can buy bitcoins now, and many places accept them as payment.

Absolutely. The only way of turning a profit would be if the value of the currency keeps rising.

Makes no sense mining these days, unless you got free leccy.

I bought some about two months ago just to see what sort of return they could generate.

The have just over doubled in price since I bought them.

Its a temperamental market.

Can anyone recommend a simple, low fee easy access platform to buy them? There seem to be loads of options...

Anyone think football agents now want to be pain in bitcoin? No audit trail apparently when you transact them in contrast to electronic cash.
