Ziyech Morocco 13:47 - Jun 20 with 2203 viewspencoedjack

Is he the player we were linked with last summer?

Looks some player.

Yes.
In the Summer and January.
On of the players Carlos was referring to who didn't fancy coming to Swansea.

Shame

Looks like the type player we should of spent some of the Gylfi cash on, not surprised he didn’t want to come in Jan

Just before he joined Ajax, we didnt pursue him because he was seen as too lightweight.

I thought we agreed Twente's valuation late on but he chose to continue with his move to Ajax.

He's one of those players I've been impressed with for the last 3-4 years (since he was still with Twente).

But the thing is..players from the Dutch league sometimes don't make it in the Prem no matter how much of "big stars" they are in the Netherlands.

Just look at the dud Everton got themselves with Davy Klaassen (they paid 24 m) who was arguably even better than Ziyech at Ajax prior to his PL move.

Overall Morrocco are impressive. Hakim Ziyech we watched for over 4 years. He went to Ajax and probably looked at the Premiership and decided his future was Ajax. He may well have struggled in the EPL in a lowly team that struggles to score. Good player. Didnt know he is Morrocan.

On the other hand look at Wilf (1st time around).

On the other hand look at

Memphis Depay (although he's done well in France)
Arkadiusz Milik
Vincent Janssen (ouch)
Jurgen Locadia (so far,but still might come out ok for Brighton)
Jordi Clasie (was considered the next best thing at Feyenoord before his Southampton floppy move)
Luuk De Jong (disastrous Newcastle loan, although still one of the best CF in the Eredivisie)

Although clearly there have been many successes as well.

If we'd only survived the drop. I'd really liked to have Jahanbakhsh in our ranks. Would likely to cost less than Ziyech and could be as effective. Only if..

We've had good returns from Dutch players Imo.
Not necessarily in the premier but Horn, Vorm and de Guzman were/are excellent.
Tiendalli was decent back up and Emnes might have done better with more game time (always liked Emnes - but never really stepped up).
Ferrie, Dorus did us proud
van der Gum had his moments.

Leroy Fer as well. Very decent, genuinely think he could have saved our relegation.

I am expecting Leroy to be the main man in our midfield next season.

Decent player.

We came back in way too late for him. Ajax deal seemed done and dusted.

Hope we don’t leave deals until the last minute in the hope of non-existing bargains
